I don't know, if I'm a kid coming out of HS I think I would kinda like to have my name on my jersey.

I get the concept but I swear, I hate not reading the names. Its hard for me to associate number to name without the name.

Not sure about that...It is probably more than you think. ECU did not have names on the jerseys while Holtz was our coach.

I'm a "fans should know the numbers" guy. You can't read the names from the stands most times anyway.

Same here - I like the nameless backs. HOWEVER, a week or so ago I read a couple comments from rising seniors saying names on the back are big in their minds......everything else being equal they'll go with the names.

Southern Cal, Marshall are two.
Notre Dame didn't for years and Penn State had never had them before last year.

BYU doesn't have names. I don't think they ever have.

Personally I like names on the back.

UTEP does not have names on jerseys

(I re-read this thread and realized this was specific to football. My bad, UTEP has names. It's the basketball team that doesn't)

Someone on the MWC board said they should have had added *Integrity. That made me laugh

North Texas has names on the back of its jersies and it's a necessity because we have about a dozen players with the same number...one on offense and one on defense.

Do you think that it really makes you play more as a team without the names? It's the most recognition some of these guys will get for all of their hard work. To each his own but I prefer names on the back.

I hate the nameless backs. If every team did it then you couldn't make fun of the visiting team.

I agree, its a lot of work to print a roster and fold the piece of paper and put it in my pocket

My thoughts sharply contrast regarding this.

I like the team first mentality, but I am also proud of my name and try to conduct myself as to bring honor to it no matter what I'm doing.

If I was the Marshall AD/coach or whatever, I might decide to put names on the back during TV games. I imagine every kid wants to see their names on TV. Lifelong dreams for most of us.

Personally I hate it. At this point it is just some stupid ploy. We have had names on our jerseys for as far back as I can remember. Doing it now is just dumb. Coaches and players say they don't watch the news, read press clippings, or use bulletin board material to get motivated. How is this any different than that? I remember when OHIO revealed their black jereseys before they played us 2 seasons ago and were all excited and they said it got them hyped and our fans said how dumb it was and they hope our team wouldn't need something like that to win games. Well here we are. If we win games it will have absolutely nothing to do with no names on those jersesy. The only people this helps is the equipment people from having to sew those placards on.

Penn State never done it. JoePa believed that when you put on the uniform to represent the Nittany Lions, you should be recognized as a team and honor the team, not yourself. This was told to me by my in-laws who are huge Penn State people.

I like no names on home jerseys and names on road jerseys.
