Schools that I would like to see in the Conference.
I would like to see the Sun Belt go after Alabama State, Kentucky State, and Tennessee State now that they have Georgia State and Texas State.

Why, just because they have State in their names.
Can understand taking Alabama State, but their posters have said time after time that
their administration would not go along with joining the SBC.

Holy crap. I forgot Kentucky State even existed.

Alabama State and Tennessee State would be great additions. Both schools would easily be the No. 3 schools in their states behind the SEC schools once they move up to FBS. It will also protect the SBC from the effects of the eventual loss of Texas State and Georgia State to CUSA.

Here is something even funnier. EON's ago, Tulane was in the SEC. (Seriously, look it up) Can you imagine being the brainiac who came up with the idea for Tulane to leave the SEC?
GA Tech left the SEC as well. However, there is a far cry's difference from landing in the ACC rather than CUSA. However, still just as stupid of a move.

Sewanee used to be a member of the SEC also.
The little college in Tennessee was an SEC member.

Sounds even more ridiculous, doesn't it?

It sounds so ridiculous I had to look it up. Wow....they were in the SEC nearly 80 years ago. Ten of the SEC current members were in the SEC with Sewanee at that time. The College Football Hall of Fame voted the 1899 Sewanee College Football Team the Greatest College Football Team of all time. In one week that season they played 5 games in 6 days. They won all 5 and all were shut outs. On the 7th day they rested. Those 5 victories were against the best teams in the South. WOW.

I don't think C-USA existed in 1966.

Yeah and Georgia Tech didn't leave directly to the ACC either.

I wondered about that. Where did they go when they left the SEC? I remember Florida State being in what I believe was the Metro Conference along with Memphis in the 70's or 80's. Every time Memphis would play them they would refer to them as the Semiholes...lol

No, I didn't mean Tulane left for CUSA. I don't know what conference they went to if any. CUSA probably was formed 10 - 13 years ago I would guess.

Metro had...Memphis, Louisville, Cincy, Georgia Tech, VA Tech, Florida State, South Carolina, St. Louis, Southern Miss, Tulane, USF, Charlotte, VCU...all at one point or another.

I miss the Metro Conference.

Tulane went independent after leaving the SEC.
