Those schools played as independents in football and in the Metro Conference for basketball. Just think how good that conference would have been in football. They might have qualified for BCS or the college football playoff.

SEC wasn't the SEC powerhouse of the time financially.

You never know what the future may bring.
Even the SEC is having some attendance problems right now for example.

This may have been covered before but what about inviting Army as a football only member in the East and then bringing New Mexico St on for all sports to make it an even 12...

Army pretty much didn't like the conference experience most said after they got out of CUSA. Some speculate they might be willing to go back into the AAC to join with Navy, but that would probably be their major reason for joining a conference again.

Lot of people want NMSU for all sports, but Eastern SBC hesitates because of tremendous travel costs for Oly sports.

OK, it just seemed to make sense because I have always herd that scheduling as an independent is difficult but if Army did not like the conference experience then I guess the only real options in the east are James Madison or Liberty.

We have had thousands of posts concerning Liberty, with an invasion of many LU fans participating. Doesn't seem like they have the support in the SBC or any conference in FBS. Not trying to dissuade you but was never ending posts on the subject for about a year.

Is there any chance that Jacksonville University in Florida would return to the Sun Belt now that they have a football team?

No, they don't necessarily need to. It would be great if the Belt had a good school in Florida, but I wouldn't want to add a school simply because of the state that it's located in. It needs to be the right school. I think all the good or decent schools in Florida are spoken for. JMU, Mo State and others who's names have been thrown around for the past 12 months on a regular basis are still the best options.

It looks like the Sun Belt might be trading Western Kentucky for Eastern Kentucky.

I would like to see both Liberty University and the University of Phoenix in the Sunbelt.

East: Georgia Southern, Georgia State, South Alabama, Troy
West: Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Louisiana, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas-Arlington, Texas State

Football Only: Idaho and New Mexico State

Teams that I want to see in the conference: Jacksonville and New Orleans?
