RE: UC/USF
Is this really necessary for an AAC board? Sort of a slap in the face. How about the realignment board.

Certainly not trying to slap anybody in the face and this article really doesn't mean anything other than it's about two current AAC teams and the possible impact to the AAC. Again not trying to cause war here...I thought it was interesting none the less.

RE: UC/USF
It stretches the payout for Texas with diminishing returns. Texas is the king of the conference and what they say goes. If their money decreases then forget about it. Also Texas, etc. have would have more travel than before.

Having grown up in Cleveland, OH and still having family there, I got a laugh out this bloggers assertion that UC would bring in the Cleveland market.

What if the "Austin" story comes from Chip Brown? You still gonna believe it?

I would. Chip is credible IMO. Some may not like for whatever reason but I would believe Chip over The Dude, miko33, and a few others.

How in gods name is this a slap in the face of an AAC team. Its an opinion piece that is fodder for discussion? There was no slander in the article? Unless you are sensitive as hell then there shouldn't be any issues.

It was originally posted on the AAC board. Chill.

If the Big 12 was smart, they would've picked up Louisville and UC to get back to 12 and connect the core members with WVU.

Yup. Dodds' girlish crush on Notre Dame blinded him from taking 2-4 very valuable schools. Either that or he purposely blocked the addition of those strong candidates to avoid diluting UT's importance as the Big 12's keystone school. Frankly, I believe the latter to be closest to the truth.

I agree, though having an eastern bloc made up of UL, UC, and WVU wouldn't exactly kill all of UT's influence. Still, it would diminish it by allowing those three to combine with KU, K-State, and Iowa State to make up a significant portion of the conference.
However, I personally think the biggest thing that happened was that the Big 12 thought that they could attract Clemson, GT, Florida State, and the U to connect the western schools with WVU, start a run on the ACC (and the G5 by extension), cut into the SEC's power, and prevent the Big Ten from even thinking about making an expansion down south. When that never came to pass, it was too late for them to see that UL/UC would've been valuable additions all along.

Miko says nothing is going to happen with realignment until something happens.
And I believe him.

Well if you believe Chip, the TV people said no combination of BE schools was worth it. This was before anyone thought the ACC schools might leave.

RE: UC/USF
Oliver Luck of WVA fame had this to say:
WVU Football: Athletic Director Luck Hints Big 12 Expansion Coming
By Michael Walker(Analyst) on February 8, 2013 15,942 reads

WVU athletic director Oliver Luck clearly stated in an interview with WVUSports.com that the Big 12 will be expanding. He further even hinted where the teams may come from.
In the over two-hour and forty-minute signing-day video, Tony Caridi and Jed Drenning interviewed everyone associated with the latest WVU recruiting class. Last but certainly not least was Oliver Luck. The interview with Luck starts at 2:29:10 in the video.
After a few remarks regarding WVU athletics in general, Drenning asked Luck about Big 12 conference expansion relative to the recent Big 12 meetings. Luck said,
There is additional movement to come in conference realignment. We can't allow what happened to the Big East happen to the Big 12 as far as only having 10 teams. We're happy where we are right now but nobody believes conference realignment is over. But, it is important for us to have eastern partners in the conference.
granted, it came from the Bleacher Report...but that doesn't negate what Luck alluded to/said.
Yes...this was back in February but the point is they are looking east IMO.
