(08-01-2013 09:02 AM)meangreener Wrote:  And you have the vocabulary of a 10th grader.

It says it right on the Mayborn's homepage. It's a fact...look it up.

ok here I looked it up

it states that the program has national accreditation, but it does not state it is the only program in Texas to have that

and even if it did it would be incorrect (something that north Texas state has a habit of posting on their website)

and one can simply go to the website for journalism accreditation and look at all the programs in Texas that have that

http://www2.ku.edu/~acejmc/STUDENT/PROGLIST.SHTML#TX

also we are still waiting on you to show where the college of music at north Texas state was ever ranked #1 and we are also waiting for you to show proof that the journalism program at north Texas state is in any type of national rankings because it has been proven that both of those things are not true and you were ask to provide proof of your claims they were true and you have yet to do so

so again I "looked it up" and you are MAKING IT UP because it does not state on the north Texas state journalism website that the north Texas state journalism program is the only one accredited in Texas and it clearly shows in the accreditation website that a number of other programs in Texas are accredited

here is an example of a direct lie from the north Texas state system pharmacy website

http://web.unthsc.edu/education/scp

The UNT System College of Pharmacy will be the first pharmacy school in Texas located on an academic health science center campus where pharmacists can be educated along side future physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, public health professionals, and biomedical researchers.

the above is simply not true

Texas Tech has their pharmacy program located in Amarillo, Texas and it is on the campus of the Texas Tech Health Science Center in Amarillo, Texas and the Texas Tech Health Science Center is a separate entity/university from the main campus of Texas Tech and this includes the Lubbock Health Science Center and all of the affiliated components of that Health Science Center and now as of this year the Texas Tech Paul Foster School of Medicine in El Paso is also it's own independent institution instead of being a component of the Lubbock Health Science Center

http://www.ttuhsc.edu/amarillo/

Schools @ Amarillo
Allied Health Sciences
Medicine
Pharmacy

SOAHS Programs

Athletic Training
Audiology
Clinical Laboratory Science
Clinical Practice Management
Clinical Services Management
Communication Sciences & Disorders, PhD
Molecular Pathology
Occupational Therapy
Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy, ScD
Physical Therapy, Transitional
Physician Assistant
Rehabilitation Counseling
Rehabilitation Sciences, PhD
Speech-Language Pathology
Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences

so again it is clear as day that the north Texas system and especially north Texas students just make up crap to try and hype themselves and when called out on it they just keep repeating it

north Texas never had the #1 college of music, the north Texas journalism program is not the only one accredited in Texas, it is not ranked and the north Texas pharmacy program is not the first one in Texas on an academic medical school campus where pharmacy students can interact with medical students, PTs and OTs, Bio-scientist, PAs and health science professionals......that would be a claim that Texas Tech could make and is able to make.....not north Texas

and further more the north Texas state system pharmacy program is not even the second program that is part of a medical school campus because that would be the Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy that is a part of the Texas A&M Health Science Center which was until a few weeks ago also it's own institution and is now having all components merged with the College Station campus......but it was still the second college of pharmacy on an academic health science center campus in Texas with Texas Tech the first and still part of a health science center that is it's own institution separate from a university

so just because the north Texas state-Denton website might say something or the north Texas state system website might say something that does not mean it is not a total load of crap.....and in the case of the claims about journalism it does not even state that which means your claims are a load of crap

Oh wait, that's because music and art degrees are worthless to 99.9% of employers.

Yeah, I mean, those RYP scores are super relevant in the quality of education and college isn't about higher learning, just a place for you to get a job...right? Anyway, there's over 100,00 alumni working in the Metroplex and 70,000 in Houston, so yeah, 99% doesn't seem quite accurate.

Has it ever crossed your mind that I picked a school based on their expertise at the program I was interested in at the time? UNT has the only accredited journalism program in the state.

Well, UNT is rated in the same tier as UH in most publications, so, if we're always low, so are you. Also, you act like I didn't get into UH and it's so superior...I did. It's not hard. UNT and UH both admit right around the same quartile of students...these are facts.

(08-01-2013 11:44 AM)meangreener Wrote:  Says straight on the site...only accredited masters in professional journalism in the state. Learn to read.

nowhere in the website does it state that north Texas state has the only accredited journalism program in Texas

THAT is the claim YOU made.....LEARN TO READ.....LEARN HOW NOT TO EXAGGERATE FACTS

so again can you support the claim that you have made several times on this forum that north Texas state has the only accredited journalism program in Texas or are you admitting that is a lie.....or that you can't read

and are you now suddenly going to crawdad back from the ranked journalism program claims as well that have so far been proven untrue along with the #1 college of music claims or are you going to make some other claim instead and pretend that the claim you actually made was never made or that you were just having trouble reading

you have made the claim that north Texas state was the only accredited journalism program in Texas in two different threads on this forum and the second time even after being shown that was not true the first time....earn to tell the truth.....learn to support your claims with facts......learn not to exaggerate things even after being called out for them.....like rankings or programs.....like rankings of a university

Oh, and don't forget this:

Ranked #1 music school in Texas
Ranked #3 music school in the South
Ranked #9 music school in the US

http://best-music-colleges.com/universit...orth-texas

Oh wait, my bad, we're the #2 public music school in the country. Out of the 8 ahead of us, 8 are private.

So, once again, you don't know what you are talking about. Like always.

I get defensive on the internet because people talk a big game online they wouldn't in real life and I feel the need to correct their assholeishness on the internet because they'd act far different in real life. The internet is ruining society and all the big talk is just proof...it's also obliterating facts and realities and clouding it in opinions. I don't accept stupidity and falsities. Sometimes I act stupid, but I rarely start a fight...I tend to derail threads over fights because I don't appreciate stupidity. Then, yeah, I get emotionally involved and it gets ugly...but if everyone would play nice and act civil, there'd be no problem.

Due to the internet culture, if you sit online and spread lies, opinions and falsities as fact...then they become fact through public opinion.

So, in essence, you're damaging my reputation by damaging my school's reputation.

No, I don't start talking crap until everyone else does. That is how I actually am so I don't really have any social problems in real life because people are a lot nicer in real life. I'm not a keyboard warrior like people who are just braver behind a computer screen so they attack everyone with differing opinion.

You can't talk the way people do online to them face to face unless you want to get punched.

I have a fiancée. Thanks.

RE: Forbes College Rankings
There's no way to legitimately say that UNT or anyone else has the #9 music school in the US. We should avoid those kinds of statements. That some magazine prints such things means nothing.

Universities are far better equipped to critique magazines than vice-versa. This Forbes ranking has Jackson State above USM, for instance. Again, it's probably not possible to quantify such things, but a distinct majority of Mississippians would put USM above JSU, by a large margin, and to suggest the opposite is absurd.

The Carnegie system is a little more objective and has a sort of official status. Some accreditations are revealing... ABET and AACSB pop to mind. The rest of all this is BS. It is to academics what reading one Jason Whitlock column is to sports: not much.

Imbecile.

Should I circle and highlight it for you, though?

yes please circle the part where it states that north Texas state has the only accredited journalism program in Texas

also can you please post any rankings that show the north Texas state journalism program is ranked by anyone, the north Texas state college of music was ever #1 in the USA or that north Texas state is ranked in the same tier of any rankings as UH is?

you seem to be making different claims now and I am interested in you supporting the claims that you have repeatedly made on this forum even after being shown those claims were not true

so again please show where north Texas is the only accredited journalism program in Texas, the number one college of music ever, ranked as a journalism program by anyone and that north Texas state is in the same tier of rankings as UH in any tanking publication

those are all claims you have made and repeated on this forum and now you are trying to ignore those claims and make new claims instead of proving your past claims......as an English major, a journalist and someone that considers themselves worthy of being a PhD candidate at a university like Rice surely you understand the difference between proving/supporting repeated past claims VS not supporting those clams and then trying to make different claims

again the claim was that north Texas state had the only accredited journalism program in Texas, it had the #1 college of music in the USA at one time, a ranked journalism program, and was in the same tier of university rankings as UH in publications......I see you are still unable to support any of those claims in spite of offering new and different claims now to try and obfuscate your inability to support your past claims

UNT doesn't have a freshman quad, it has a freshman octagon.

The dorms at UNT are similar to Sadaam Hussein's summer palace, but with nicer bathrooms.

If you added up the SAT scores of all UNT freshman, it would equal the number of atoms in the universe... squared.

Joe Satriani once attended a student jazz band concert at UNT. Afterwards, he decided to take up golf.
