One of these things is not like the others...
I don't know how they really calculate ROI though. They have App State ranked higher than Charlotte for example, but Charlotte costs less and our average starting and mid-career salaries are quite a bit higher than App State. To me, ROI=$$$, but there must be something else that goes into it if schools that have lower average salaries and higher costs can rank better.

Knew you guys had a Dental school, but was unaware you had a medical and nursing school. Makes your blowing us by in budget and attendance a little more easy to see now.
Mississippi's IHL would never allow us programs like that or even smaller programs. Hail, they wouldn't even allow us a Gaming and Casino Management program on the coast campus. Which allowed Tulane to come in and open one.

The casino management program that Tulane offers in Mississippi is a freaking cash cow. There really is no other reason for us to be in Mississippi at all, but opening that thing was one of the best strategic decisions Cowen's ever made, and one of the biggest strategic failures for USM and other schools.

That med school was down to ECU and Charlotte, but ECU won out because it accomplished two things: it added a (needed) third med school to the state and it served an underserved area.
Charlotte was already well enough served with two major hospitals, so ECU won out.
I keep hoping someday they'll add a fourth, but all we've seen so far is a branch campus from Chapel Hill opening in Charlotte
The Novany CEO wanted to partner with us and CMC to open a public-private med school, but the CMC CEO is a Tarheel and he seemed to favor the branch campus concept.

that's precisely why the shiites that run the ihl wouldn't allow us to open that program. it would threaten the status quo.
as crappy as the educations are at UM and MS, everyone else has to be forced to be crappier, lest the sacred cows actually become threatened, and the bureaucrats b*stards that run them actually have to work for a living.

Wait we've fallen some 500 places? Well, there you have it folks Apparently, MT has gone to hell in a hand basket in just four years. We're now on par with Barry and LaGrange. This fall from grace was invevitable. Time to shut down the school.

People that have an axe to grind are WAY more likely to leave comments than people who were satisfied. I sure as hell would never leave a comment that said "I felt my professor did an adequate job" but if I had an ******* of a professor that I felt slighted me I'd probably look for an outlet like RMP to vent.

Forbes takes into account Rate Your Professor.com ratings...it's irrelevant.
Like someone said already, a good portion comes from RYP ratings, which is completely irrelevant and hilarious.

Not necessarily- the number listed in the original post is your overall ranking, not your ranking among public universities. William & Mary, for instance, is the 9th best public school, but only 44th overall. They are incredibly inconsistent, however- and this is especially true of Forbes.
