In his contract he's not allowed to talk politics.

Unless it pertains to the story at hand.

There's no way he'll be completely muted about politics.

As for Kilborn, IIRC he could have had the Daily Show for as long as he wanted, but he quit to pursue an acting career. He caught the bug from his stint in Old School and thought he'd be a big star. Oops.

Kilborn left the Daily Show years before Old School. He left to take over Tom Snyder's old slot on CBS and it bombed.

Ahh, yes, I forgot about the Late Late Show. Still, he quit the Daily Show on his own. He could have run with that for years.

Uhoh.. it looks like E*** is backtracking!!!

Variet Interview

Quote:Speaking to Variety on Wednesday, Skipper said while "politics and governance and elections are not going to be the subject of a show," there is "no prohibition against speaking up when sports runs up against anything else in our culture."

“Trayvon Martin is an excellent example; we expect Keith to have some point of view there. It only has to be responsible," he said.

Congratulations E***,... you just sank your own battleship...

Of course, this is no surprise, considering they "revoked" their own "social media policy" in regards to political statements... since it apparently fit with their own message.

Even another reason to shut off ESPN and turn on Fox Sports 1 come August 17th.

Yeah, we could watch Rush Limbaugh call MNF instead, who couldn't keep his views on race out of it. Look, there are a lot of blowhards on Fox and MSNBC; and even more on talkradio. Intelligent discussion doesn't come from 'lowest common denominator' pundits. I wouldn't necessarily want Glenn Beck joining ESPN, although he'd probably have a lot of crazy sports conspiracy theories. Could be entertaining for a couple of days. But I'll give Keith this: IF he can stick with sports, he's one of the best in the business. IF he doesn't have another blowup and quick departure, which I predict happens within 12 months, then the experiment could work.
