Troy tries to contact Alabama about scheduling and...
http://www.troymessenger.com/2013/06/26/...teraction/

Shot down.

“We put in a call to Alabama when they had a scheduling conflict several months ago,” football head coach Larry Blakeney said. “Instead of playing us, they are paying Colorado State $1.5 million to come down and play.”

One fan even suggested trying to get state politicians involved to help push idea.

“We made the call, they have our number. We’re still waiting on a call back,” athletic director John Hartwell said with a grin.

It will be interesting to see if Georgia or Georgia Tech will play us now that we are going FBS. We are playing Georgia Tech next year but that contract was signed several years ago.

A little off topic, but just think if UAb would play Samford. They would might actually get 10k at Legion Field if they were to do that.

Bad thing for UAb is that they would probably lose that game.03-nutkick

I think some people underestimate UAb. They have moments where they are really good. Believe me. We hold a 6-4 record over them but a lot of our games have been close.

UAb has the ability, just off location alone. However, they are a comedy of errors. Mostly brought on by the BoT of UA. Either support the program or end it.

But in the meantime, I will hate on UAb.04-cheers

I'm not shocked at all. I've never understood why the BCS schools in Alabama refuse to play the other in-state schools but will pay some serious cash to play Kent State and Western Carolina.03-banghead

Alabama want play in state schools except auburn for fear they may lose a dollar from some fan. Or that some fan may choose to follow a school that doesn't treat its fans as merely a sucker to relieve money from.

It took legislation to get Alabama and Auburn to play in the first place.

Think we all have schools that will not play us. UNC Chapel Hill is ours. Funny thing though, wouldn't be that big a deal to beat
them.

If TROY beat Alabama a huge shift would start to happen in the State of Alabama IMO.

I would love to see Auburn and Troy play with the schools being so close.

Our athletic department is dropping the football games with Troy as well. I don't know what their scheduling philosophy is. While some schools are set for nearly the next decade, we only have one OOC game set for 2015 and none after that.

I always upset Blazer fans when I say this, but UAB shouldn't field a football team. They don't have the ability to captain their own ship because of being subservient to Bama's BOT. It made no sense for Alabama to allow it to begin with, it wasn't in their best interest to have a "secondary" football team within the system. It'd be like Troy-Dothan starting up a team.

UAB should have stuck to basketball. They are good at it and Bama doesn't seem to constantly interfere with that sport like they do football.

All FBS football programs are "BCS," atleast until they do away with the current system.
