RE: ACC special announcement July 1
UNOFFICIAL START OF RUMOR:
UMD decides to stay and PSU makes it 16. ND agrees to 6 games (O.K., this one is only to get TerryD going)
Hey, if we're speculating, we might as well have some fun. Wolfman has a legitimate point, The Dude has more contacts, real and imagined (more so imagined than real) than POTUS so he may be a replacement candidate.
On the serious side, it is probably as TM and Neil posted above with TM's 3&5 a lesser possibility. I don't think there is any opportunity for an MSG deal at this time and I'm not convinced that Barclays would suffice.

RE: ACC special announcement July 1
I'm hearing the Pinstripe Bowl is the main reason along with welcoming the new teams.

Could they officially announce an ACC channel will air starting in 2016 or 2017?

I'll take this unofficial rumor and raise you by saying that Texas is joining as a partial and playing the other 6 games, and the ACC announced a 4 game football scheduling alliance with the SEC.

How about throwing the 2018 ACC Tourney to the Barclays Center into the mix?

1. ND, CUSE, PITT
2. Pinstripe Bowl
3. Settlement with UMD
4. New Divisional Lineup
5. Announcement of a #16 school (long shot)

1&2 highly likely.
3 UMD and ACC would happily announce this, no reason to wait once they reach an agreement
4 You had to turn this good thread into yet another division realignment thread?
5 Not likely

Will OU be announcing they are headed to the B1G the same day? And as long as we are starting rumors, let's make the SEC alliance a 14 team alliance with the four fixed games and the remaining 10 teams playing Home and Homes, rotating through the other teams.

Well, my thought was 6 ND games, 6 Texas games, and 4 SEC games would be 16 special games for a 16 team conference (i.e. one special game/school/yr), but while we are dreaming, why not? The more the merrier!

The reason it's being held at NADAQ is because the ACC is announcing that it just purchased Raycom Sports and will turn it into the ACC Network.
(ok, I just made that up, but it was cool for a couple of seconds)

I would take it.
While we were having fun, most of us realize it is probably just a formal announcement of what we know already, Syracuse Pitt and Notre Dame will be official members and, perhaps, the Pinstripe Bowl. Both of which are good enough news for now.
There are too many good sources that if there was a major new development that there would probably be a small hint somewhere. If I am wrong, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Some of you are delusional with this SEC alliance talk. They have zero impetus to agree to such with the ACC and why would schools like LSU, Bama, UT, Auburn and A&M want to face Duke, Wake, UVA or BC?
Unless it involves more money for FSU I really couldn't care less what this announcement is.

We've never had any trouble getting any SEC team that we wanted to play on the schedule.
