Our basketball program is in a much better position than UAB, UNCC, ODU, Marshall etc moving forward. We already are winning and recruiting at worst a very similar level if not better level, and have similar facilities and support along with the biggest budget of you all. Moving to a better conference gives us the clear advantage moving forward.

This is all that really needs to be said about where our programs are right now and heading into the future when Niner fans or the random Marshall or UAB fans pipe up.

Keep telling yourself that... just do it quietly. We're getting tired of hearing it.

Oh, you will keep hearing it when you guys pipe up because you have no good response. You know our hoops are in a better position moving forward. We got the chip.

You're right. I have no good response.

If I walked around shouting "THE SKY IS GREEN! THE SKY IS GREEN! THE SKY IS GREEN!" over and over and over people would eventually stop trying to tell me I'm wrong.

ECU will never ever reach the level of basketball success UAB, UNCC or Old Dominion has achieved. For God's sake, ECU hasn't even been to the freaking NIT Tournament in their 200 years of existent. And no I ain't talking about the NIT Preseason Tourney either.

I'm sorry, but trying to compare ECU to UNCC, UAB and ODU is a joke. They are light years ahead of ECU when it comes to basketball.

YOU DON'T KNOW THAT. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO VALIDATE THIS OTHER THAN YOUR OPINION/BIAS. USF went to the Big East, and it didn't turn their basketball program into world beaters.

Read the context again. I said the AAC is a superior conference in basketball and a nationally relevant one that we will have to recruit with. That is like saying the sky is blue and absolutely true in comparison to CUSA 3.0.

We are already winning as much, recruiting as well, and have similar facilites and fan support and more money than UNCC, UAB, Marshall, ODU etc. This is just the chip that puts us over the top in many ways.

I've never said we would be a world beater just that we are in a better position than UAB, UNCC, Marshall, ODU etc moving forward and got a chip you don't have moving forward.

This chip you talk about, didn't do ECU any good for this year's recruiting class, what according to you is going to change?

You should never take basketball advice from people who think retreads like mike Davis or Jeff Levo are good basketball coaches

And by your same logic how do you explain lebo failing at auburn? They have better facilities and more money than uab but went 3-30? Last year

We signed our class long before we got into the AAC. Even then we beat out schools like UNCC for Stith, and UTEP on Caleb White and Gregory Alexander last summer/fall. We were already doing ok recruiting head to head anyway. This gives us a higher rated conference with national powers in it and clear separation to sell when going up against teams like UNCC, ODU, UAB, Marshall etc now.

Caleb White??? He may have been interested in UTEP, but UTEP was after Vince Hunter, not him. The only website I can find that says we even offered him was rivals, everyone else does not have an offer from UTEP for him. We signed one of the top classes in the nation, do you honestly think you beat us out for a recruit? Anyways, you're way behind UNCC, ODU, WKU and UAB.

Shamarr Bowden visited UTEP on your dime a couple years ago, certainly had an offer from you and signed with us the next week over Tim Floyd. He was one of the best 3 point shooter in CUSA that next year.

The Caleb White UTEP offer info came from Virginia Preps on rivals not an ECU site and an interveiw they did, so it's certainly likley Caleb White had an offer from UTEP. I can find several sites that have him listed as having offers from Cincy, Virginia Tech, UTEP, Richmond etc and he verbaled with us very early in July before a lot of the bigger schools got on him.

One of our other recruits this year Gregory Alexander also shows an offer from UTEP on both 247 and Rivals confirming, probably others if I cared to look them up. Both he and White commited before September before your class was done and were solid recruits you offered. Keep telling yourself you can't lose recruits to us. You did and there is confirmation from both of the top recruiting sites Rivals and 247.

Point is I can point out players from every school we have beat you on.

UAB (Morrow)
Charlotte (Stith & Gulmette)
ODU (Zangari)

We already hold our own recruiting head to head with recruits, and actually win more of them than not the last few years. Now we have something none of you have to sell so we aren't behind any of those schools now. We are a viable attractive option that's winning as much already right now and more attractive with AAC status than the UAB, UNCC's, ODU's, Marshall's and WKU's.

RE: ECU invited to the 2013 NIT Season Tip Off
ECU Basketball always has been and always will be a non-factor in college basketball circles. ECU has been around for over 100 years and you have one postseason appearance that I am not even sure is recognized by the NCAA.

UAB has made 29 NCAA or NIT appearances and often with 1 or 2 star talent according to recruiting sites. UAB will continue to make legitimate postseason appearances. You let us know when ECU becomes a blip on the college basketball radar.
