Interesting comment. So what would happen if you added all of the former ACC and Big East members to the current list of 14 ACC teams plus Notre Dame.
When you add teams like Maryland and UConn, would the order change considerably?
Would Rutgers make a difference, South Carolina, Maryland? We have already seen that Cincinnati would make a difference with CJ.
Can't say any of those teams would replace a game with UC every season for me. We used to be in a conference with USC lite, they sucked about everything. Don't have any history with Maryland. Have had some good games with Rutgers in football but their basketball hasn't been good since UofL joined The Big East.

RE: ACC Football - Ranking by Interest Level
Just for fun, the top ten teams overall for me based on history, geography, dislike of the fanbase etc. with the caveat that they have to be teams Pitt would realistically play it would be:
1. Penn State
2. West Virginia
3. Notre Dame
4. Syracuse
Virginia Tech
Miami (Fl)
7. Florida State
8. Clemson
9. Louisville
10. Cincinnati
For basketball:
1. Penn State (I know they've been bad for so long and Pitt almost never plays them but they're the school I want Pitt to beat period in any sport.)
2. UConn
3. Syracuse
4. Louisville
5. West Virginia
6. Duke
UNC
8. Villanova
9. Georgetown
10. Notre Dame

Trust me, they weren't good before you joined either.
I dont ever remember Rutgers ever being good in BE basketball. I could be wrong. But Rutgers, up until maybe 2006 wasnt good for any revenue sport. They were a drain to be honest. But they turned it around in fb. Being in the Big 10 now, could help them turn it around in bb. They were making strides until their coach became a mad man.

RE: ACC Football - Ranking by Interest Level
- Notre Dame
- Miami
- Florida State
- Syracuse
- Virginia Tech
- Pitt
- Clemson
- Georgia Tech
- NC State
- Virginia
- UNC
- Boston College
- Wake Forest
- Duke
It's a difficult list to make, but love 'em or hate 'em, I don't see how you could place Notre Dame anywhere other than at #1 - especially since it appears that we'll be playing them more frequently than we'll be playing most full members in the Coastal Division. I put Miami second because I still remember when we were among the worst teams in the former Division IA, Miami played us in Louisville. FSU's #3 because we have some history with them and, well, they're Florida State. And Syracuse is high because we have such a healthy rivalry with them in two sports.

RE: ACC Football - Ranking by Interest Level
Ok I've finally have time to reply
I'm looking at opponent interest (Top 10 team) or just a good game for Cuse to play, tailgate environment, fanbase of opponent, etc. and city/area I want to visit
1a. Notre Dame (been there once to watch USAFA play...great stadium/ city meh)
1b. Miami (Miami offers more to do and warmer late season weather, FSU offers better game day experience)
1c. Florida State
2a. Pitt (first three ranked 2 offer the ability for me to stay free with relatives) Pitt awesome food and fun city
2b. UVA (awesome stadium and preppy watching)
2c. NCSt (want to see if they are as bad as WVU fans)
2d. Louisville really want to see a game there and tailgate with my UL buddies from here, Ville is a fun town too.
3a. UNC drivable from my Mom's but have already seen a game at Kenan.
3b. Clemson fantastic gameday environment but not convenient to travel to.
4a. Wake Forest awesome tailgates I'm told
4b. GTech gr8 city to visit not sure about gameday
4c. VTech heard it is SEC like but so damn hard to get to, a game in mid Oct would elevate ranking for fall foliage.
5. Duke close to my Mom's...will see if improvements to stadium helps
72. BC gr8 city but don't want to tailgate with Massholes.

RE: ACC Football - Ranking by Interest Level
Here's my list:
1. Pittsburgh
2. Notre Dame
3. Boston College
4. Miami
5. Virginia Tech
6. Louisville
7. Florida State
8. Georgia Tech
9. Clemson
10. Virginia
11. North Carolina
12. Duke
13. Wake Forest
14. North Carolina State
This is based mostly on familiarity and past membership in the same conferences. I am not really familiar with the old ACC schools. For historical reasons Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and BC are in my top 3. I suppose once we play some of the other schools a few times then some sort of rivalry will build. We recently had a series with Florida State so it should be nice to play them again. I don't know much about Clemson but I hear they are going to be pretty good this year so it should be interesting. Louisville has been a good football/basketball rivalry of late and I expect that to continue in the ACC.
When it comes to basketball I expect North Carolina, Duke and Louisville to be at the very top of the list as those will be the contenders for the national championship.

So is it fair to assume that you placed a greater emphasis on Miami's location and/or that FSU and Miami weren't drastically different in the other measures?

For this Louisville Fan, excluding Notre Dame since that is a OOC Game:

5. Syracuse
6. Georgia Tech
7. North Carolina
8. Pittsburgh

Sorry for the delayed response...Miami only gets rated highly for me due to the fact that I can wrap it into a trip to Key West, Sanibel, Key Largo, etc...and I do enjoy visiting Miami for the Cuban food. Miami offers a much better chance for warm weather the last 6 weeks of the season, FSU is in 2nd place for that. FSU beats Miami hands down for Opponent Strength (currently), on campus and tailgate environment. Notre Dame is just high due to the mystique of playing at Notre Dame.
