Pitt (10/19) - will get to catch Ravens/Steelers the following afternoon!

ECU (8/31) - what opener isn't great?

That said... I WILL be going to Huntington for the ECU @ Marshall game. So... that's the one I'm most looking forward to.

I agree to not going to unc ($60) and ncsu($65) plus those schools separate our fans (3000 tickets limit) into opposite sides, top corners of stadium. Also ECU will have played 11 games before Marshall game and I think that game will have little outcome on season except maybe a bowl status. I will be attending the MTSU game plus its their Homecoming, too. As former ECU Head Football Coach Steve Logan use to say, "ECU just love going to play on visitors' Homecoming Day". One season ECU played in eight.......now that's funny.

The conference games I am most likely to attend are Marshall, Charlotte, FIU, and FAU. Of those the one I mist look forward to is Marshall.

You'd be wise to re-think this one. I've been to two stadiums in Arizona, once in December and the other time in September and it was miserably HOT. I gave up that idea after those two experiences. Yes, it will be hotter than San Anto. (regardless of its humidity) you'll be sucking air like a fish out of water.

Yeah, very true. My wife is a UofA alum. I'm getting sick of the phrase, "it's a dry heat".

Yeah, I'm fairly confident that was not one of Icsrus' final thoughts.

Basically, schools that are either established, good C-USA schools or start/move-ups that seem to have a great deal of fan support.

This is nothing against Sun Belt schools, or the "equivalent" such as UNT, LT, MTSU and WKU. You're just kind of "known" quantities thus far.

PS - I assumed this was in-conference games, but apparently it's not?

You are probably too young to know (as many on this board seem to be) but North Texas has been playing NCAA Division 1 football (except for 12 years in D1-AA) since the 1950's. For the first 30 years of what sports scribes call the beginning of the modern era of NCAA Division 1 the Mean Green were building what some might call a legacy or a bit of history. No , there were no NCAA national football champions during that time (except for 4 NCAA National Champions in golf).

Even our Southern Miss-graduated Athletic Director said when he was a student at USM they were trying to emulate what had been going on in Denton, Texas, America, for about about 35-40 prior years; especially during the Abner Haynes Sun Bowl teams of the 50's as well as the eras of Mean Joe Greene and Hayden Fry the next 2 decades. (I wouldn't say that our A.D. said said those words if in fact it were not true; in fact, he said those words to a handful of us who were at the very first meeting our fans and alums had with him when he was first hired).

To not have any early modern NCAA history or legacy will be common in the new CUSA, but North Texas will not fall into that category at all. Our last few years we've been in a losing cycle, but have maintained about 18,000 per game averages during this down time. We have a good base of fans who are itching to see if Apogee Stadium will be large enough when the winning seasons come back to us again.

To those on this forum who continually persist in wanting to make North Texas seem as if we've never been there--done that or have been a chopped liver kind of college football program forever merely need to check out a bit of NCAA history beginning in the NCAA modern era; that is, beginning in the 1950's when North Texas was even the first traditionally Caucasian university to integrate in the Southwest and Deep South for that matter. We had schools in the Southwest Conference who would not play us because we had 2 African-Amercians, ie, Abner Haynes and Leon King on our team but truth be told....some of them did not play us because they know the outcome would not have benefited their school's win columns; same thing during the Mean Joe Greene and Hayden Fry eras. Only time TCU would ever play us was when our talent level was down and their A.D. came to the conclusion that..........."now is the time to schedule North Texas!" [/font] 03-lmfao

So here you have North Texas versus the Texas Longhorns in the 80's which will be a repeat for some to view (who chose to view it). Yet what was your school doing in the 50's, the 60's, the 70's and the 80's up till the 90's? The silence will be deafening with some of your "non-answers" especially by some of you younger ones who may not actually know what your school was doing or even what level of the NCAA it was participating.

First time we played UT in 1976 Earl Campbell had to run for a last minute TD to beat Hayden Fry's version of the Mean Green. The Austin American Statesman estimated there were approx. 20,000 traveling Mean Green fans at what is now called DKR Memorial Stadium on the UT campus. Back in that time it was mostly Texas Aggies or TT Red Raiders that would have matched such traveling fan numbers.

UT Longhorn broadcasters: "Uh....oh!"

PS Ever leave a stadium after a game with your opponent's fans apologizing to you for a very, ver bad "homer" call which cost your team a win? Well, many of us did that evening in Austin, Texas, as we were leaving DKR Memorial to get back to our cars.

C'mon, man. Maybe in the last home game last year while we were 0-10 and wanting to get rid of E12, but really?
