1. Troy was celebrating.
2. South started coming out to shake hands.
3. There was no "dogpile" in the truest sense of the word. There is photo and video proof.
4. A non-player from South out of the dugout kicked one of our batting helmets.
5. The two groups came together.
From there...there is not a single fan in the stands that knows what really happened. Someone said something or someone threw a punch in the group and then the two teams started going at it.
Sure, we were celebrating. And I don't blame our boys one bit. I would expect any other team to celebrate on our field too in that situation. I wouldn't like it, but that's because it would be against my team. Celebrating championships (even co-championships) is part of the game. And if you wanna say, well you shouldn't celebrate a co-championship, ok well maybe we were celebrating getting that #1 seed as a co-champion. Our boys were proud. Their backs were against the wall after Thursday night and they found away to make up that 2 game deficit. That's something to celebrate. I'm already starting to love this rivalry.
On another note, the "stank-hole" as I like to call it is not a stank hole at all. This was my first time to the stadium and I really enjoyed it. Great facility and your fans were great as well. Enjoyed the campus too. Definitely has a much different feel to it than Troy's, but you guys have a lot to be proud of.
I am not speaking for the USA players, but I think the big exception USA players had is Troy players were celebrating on our field when USA won the same exact thing. We should be celebrating on our field, you'd think. USA players probably felt like they lost the championship and that game wasn't worth celebrating, and when Troy celebrated it got under their skin. That's what I think anyway. Troy made the plays, gotta give them the credit. This two plays at the plate were huge.
Skully, let me offer you some perspective from my viewpoint, one that is just observing from afar.
You keep saying that it's weird that they decided to celebrate a "shared" championship. But what you are failing to realize is that, if Troy loses that game then there is no "shared" championship at all.
Don't you get it? That was Troy's championship game! (regular season)
If they lose that game, they don't get to share anything. I have NO PROBLEM with them celebrating on your field. I'd expect them to do that on our field too in the same instance. It's part of the game.
Either way, congrats to both USA and Troy... both have excellent teams this year. I hope y'all can make it to Lafayette next week... come tailgate with some great Cajuns fans and eat our amazing food!
I never said it was weird. Scroll up and do a discount double-check. I said USA players probably felt they lost the championship (since they didn't win it outright). I fail to see where you get the basis of this response from. I don't particularly care either way. I like that our rivalry with Troy is heating up though!
Skully, my bad! I was confusing your posts with BLEEDITRED. Y'all have the same Jaguar logo under your name and I guess I just didn't look closely.
But I was trying to explain why TROY was excited. BLEEDITRED couldn't seem to grasp why it was so exciting for TROY that they won a share of the Championship.
Here is a video of the final out. And right before the fight took place. Note: The stadium was rocking and much more full than this video shows. People had already started leaving way before this.

Couldn't seem to grasp? Didn't I say I didn't really care, but thought it was weird? At least to the extreme that it went to. Apparently, our players did too. If it had happened to ULL, y'all would have had a 20 page thread on it by now.

I'm not a fan of this picture. The picture is not from Saturdays game. And honestly it should say Co-champions and not be so misleading like we are the only ones.

Easy hoss, just thought it was funny that there were multiple posts about TROY celebrating on your field. I think it's stupid that they were ridiculed for it.
And I can't speak for my fellow Cajun fans, but as for myself... I'd have no problem with them celebrating on my field if they just won a share of the Championship. I honestly just see it as part of Baseball.
Sorry if I offended you in any way. Good luck at the Tigue next weekend sir! We plan on whoopin dat azz!
