Top 12 Best of the Rest
If the Power 5 do make their own league and leave the NCAA there should be one more league composed of the best teams from the AAC and the MWC. Here are the 12 and why they were chosen:

1. Boise State - Great football, basketball is on the upswing and they bring in TV revenue.

2. Cincinnati - Good football, good basketball. They don't belong in the bottom 5.

3. Connecticut - Mediocre football, good basketball. The Huskies are in a bad situation right now. The Big 12 won't go after them and the ACC isn't going to expand in a long long time. This is the only way UConn returns to a power conference.

4. Fresno State - Good football, mediocre basketball. Fresno State brings a really solid presence in a conference. They could be the heavy sleeper in this potential conference.

5. Houston - Good football, mediocre basketball. Houston brings in a huge TV market that would help immensely.

6. New Mexico - Terrible football, great basketball. The Lobos were the last team I selected in this list. Lobo basketball is just too good to pass up.

7. San Diego State - Good football, great basketball. San Diego State has really risen to new heights in just a few years. It's too bad some of their fans are douches.

8. South Florida - Mediocre football, mediocre basketball. I debated whether or not to put in USF, but I decided to put them in. They have the potential to be really good and I think they could be very soon.

9. Southern Methodist - Decent football, mediocre basketball. SMU is a very interesting school to figure out. They were a football powerhouse in the 80s until they received the death penalty. That Dallas market is just too big to pass up.

10. Temple - Decent football, good basketball. Temple is another interesting school that could be great and again a great TV market.

11. UCF - Good football, mediocre basketball. UCF is my other sleeper in this list.

12. UNLV - Horrible football, great basketball. UNLV is the biggest sleeping giant in the NCAA right now. If our football team could wake up and start winning some games we could be anywhere we want to be.

There's my twelve. What do you think?

RE: Top 12 Best of the Rest
Well UNLV has been taking a very long Football nap. Lifetime sub .500 record and never finished ranked in a Top 25 poll ever. I can think of plenty of teams that I would rank over UNLV in the best of the rest Top 12

So UCONN has several national championships in recent history and their basketball is "good", while UNLV has "GREAT" basketball despite haven't been relevant nationally since the Tarkanian days?

ok....

UNLV surely doesn't belong in the best of the rest.

Temple is not decent at football. They have an all-time win% of .432, has only been to 4 bowl games (2 while in the MAC ['09, '11], 1 in '79, the other in '34), has only been ranked for a grand total of 8 weeks, couldn't even beat a MAC team with a winning record when they were in the MAC
