I THINK that Oklahoma is next at #15.

Quote:UP NEXT

This university was founded about 18 years before its home state received statehood.

The University of Oklahoma was founded in 1890.

Oklahoma gained statehood on November 16, 1907.

Florida is next at #14.

This team's director of strength and conditioning got his start at an FBS school that plays three automatic-qualifying opponents during non-conference play in 2013.

Jeff Dillman got his start at ULM as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach.

ULM plays Oklahoma, Wake Forest, and Baylor during non-conference play in 2013.

I THINK that Georgia is next at #13.

Interesting: Florida State went to 15 straight January Bowls staring in January 1992 - January 2006.

Nebraska also went to 15 straight January Bowls staring in January 1982 - January 1996 and then again in 2012-13.

Notre Dame had like a nine year run from 1988-1996 and then again on 2006-07. So technically they all fit the clue.

Texas A&M accomplished it during 1986-88, 1992-94, 1998-99 ('86-'87 and '87-'88 can count as two times for a total of four, so they fit the clue too).

EDIT: It was Notre Dame. There were so many that fit the clue.

This program has reached at least two January bowls in a row four times in its history.

Georgia went to back-to-back January bowls in 2003-06, 2008-09, 2011-12.

This program's first win came on Thanksgiving. (Not last Thanksgiving.)

Nebraska, coached by Dr. Langdon Frothingham, won its first game on Thanksgiving Day 11/27/1890 against the Omaha, Nebraska YMCA football team.

Danny Ford, who last led Clemson to a National Championship (1981), was born on December 19, 1947.

Ford Frick was Commissioner of Baseball during 1951–1965 and was born on December 19, 1894.

I THINK that Florida State is next at #8.

South Carolina fits the clue a swell. Georgia may also fit the clue, although a "certification in public management" is not technically a degree.

Quote:UP NEXT

— Who is No. 8?
The mayor of this university's home city earned two degrees from the school itself.

John Marks, Mayor of Tallahassee, Florida, earned his B.S. degree and his Juris Doctorate from the Florida State University.

Stephen K. Benjamin, Mayor of Columbia, South Carolina earned his B.A. degree and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina.

Nancy Denson, Mayor of Athens, Georgia earned a Bachelor's degree from UGA as well as a certificate in public management from UGA's Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

Georgia is next at # 6.

Alabama fits the clue as well (Amari Cooper).

This team's leading returning receiver has one more letter in his last name than in his first name.

Malcolm Mitchell.

South Carolina is next at #5.

Quote:UP NEXT

This team once went 0-11, scoring only 12 total points in the entire month of September (four games).

South Carolina went 0-11 in 1999 under Lou Holtz.

September scores in 1999
9/04: 0-10 vs. NCST
9/11: 9-24 vs. Georgia
9/18: 3-21 vs. East Carolina
9/25: 0-17 Mississippi St.

EDIT: Going by Paul's Conference previews, it's probably safe to assume that the two Pac-12 teams are next at #3/4, with Oregon at #4 and Paul's projected Pac-12 Champ Stanford at #3.

I THINK that Oregon is next at #4.

Oregon actually has 8 seniors, 11 juniors, and three sophomores and none of the teams left fit the clue exactly. I'm guessing that Paul just inverted the senior/junior numbers accidentally.

Quote:UP NEXT

Ohio State is next at #3.

Urban Meyer fits the clue.

Quote:UP NEXT

This team's coach has the 30th-most wins in NCAA history among coaches whose last name starts with the same letter as the coach in question. (So if we were hinting to Washington State and Mike Leach, it would be coaches whose last name starts with the letter 'L.')

RE: Paul Myerberg's 2013 College Football Countdown: #125 to #1
Well, the clue fits both Stanford and Alabama.

Alabama held 12 of its 14 opponents to 25 points or less in the 2012 season only allowing Texas A&M and Georgia to score more.

Stanford allowed 25 points or less in 13 of its 14 games, to 12 opponents (played UCLA twice), in 2012 season with only Arizona scoring more.

The use of the word "opponent" makes the clue work for both teams. If you were only to consider games played, then Alabama would fit "better" but the clue also specified 2012 and NOT the 2012 season. If you were to look at games that occurred in the actual year of 2012, then Stanford fits the clue "better" because they won 12 games in the YEAR 2012 by allowing 25 points or less, while that number is only 11 for Alabama.

Quote:UP NEXT

— Who is No. 2?
This team held 12 opponents to less than 25 points in 2012.
