Looking at the Big Picture and the money involved, the Big 12 will go back to twelve to have a Championship game. I believe the Big 12
will eventually invite Houston and Rice which would effect the AAC, CUSA.

The CUSA will probably pull schools from the MAC and SBC to get back to twelve.

I doubt it. From all acounts, the Big-12 is happy at 10. If they do expand, I would think getting W Virginia off their island would be an issue. That means Cinci would likely make the cut as a bridge. After that, I would think BYU would be the best #12. While Houston might make some sense to counteract the SEC intrusion into southern Texas, I dont think Texas would allow it. My money would be on BYU for #12.

As a child of the SWC, I personally would love it, but that's never going to happen.

The only school in Texas that would make any sense for the Big XII is UTEP. The rest don't add anything new to the conference. Besides, if the Big XII expands their number one target would likely be BYU.

Houston would add a lot more to the B12 than UTEP. El Paso is a relatively poor recruiting area for both football and BB and has 1/5 the population of greater Houston. Texas (and Texas A&M) may own most of the Houston market, but the Cougars would still add market share. UTEP owns the EP market, but from the B12 perspective, there is not much to own.

Wrong. BYU had their chance and blew off the B12. I doubt the B12 will come knocking again...

The Big 12 won't add any more Texas teams.

Doing so would only compound their problem of not enough markets outside Texas and the plains states while creating even more competition for the recruiting trough they all feed at (do you really think Baylor, Tech, TCU, OU, & OSU want UH or Rice to go to kids in that fertile area and say "why go all the way there when you can play the exact same teams here at home where momma can see every one of them"?)

This is really the equivalent of saying that when the ACC lost UMD and the D.C. ,market, they should have responded by replacing them with ECU to have 5 teams in NC just to make sure they REALLY control all of that state instead of looking for new markets to move into.

Big 12 could go with Memphis at #12 - historic rival of Cincinnati, and Memphis could be paired with either of the Kansas schools, the Oklahoma Schools, or Iowa State for travel partners.

The Big 12 should add New Mexico. Their football is crap but they would add to basketball side.

I agree that Houston adds a heck of a lot more than UTEP.

But there's no way they'll look within Texas for their next members.

First, though, they won't add teams at all, unless they need them to get into the playoffs, or if their TV partners tell them they need them for more money or because the TV partners want a CCG. But if that were going to happen, it already would have.

If I were WVU, I'd be pushing for Cincy and either Temple or UConn. But I agree with the above posters who say that if they add 2 more, Cincy and BYU would have the most economic impact. (Actually, Cincy would probably add nothing, but BYU would add something, though working through the issues with them will probably be a lost cause.)

If the Big XII wants to get back to XII then I believe it's a must Texas and OU are split either by zipper or North/South. BYU is the only school out there that brings enough to warrant an addition. UConn basketball is a marquee program, but they're just too far east. Always wonder what would have happened if BYU and UNM would have been invited when the Big XII was formed, since there was a lot of talk about those two.

Guys, the Big XII took TCU to get the UH people to stop putting pressure on UT to take them. UT doesn't want UH, so UH won't get in.

I won't say never but I seriously doubt either school joins the Big 12. The only exception is if the Texoma 4 leave for the PAC 12, then I could see UH/Rice join.

The "Tech" problem is no longer an issue so be nice to Baylor

Rice would make sense if Texas wanted another AAU member in the ranks to help bolster the academic sides of the Big 12.

Did Texas discontinue the series with Rice, and does Texas need/want to play in Houston?
