You sound pretty sure in your statement.

In a twelve team conference you'd play 3 teams from the other division not two to get to eight conference games.

While it is true there are no rivalries to preserve there are rivalries to create.

Idaho may be the xFactor here. Nobody wants to get stuck with that trip evey other year except Liberty. LOL

We may not have the largest stadium, but we've got tailgating figured out. And now that we'll be playing better competition, that should only improve.

Well whoops!

I guess either USA or UL then. Either would be a good town to visit.

First ULL--for the food! My second choice would be TXST.

USA will also be in the East with us.

So your vote is then the Rajun Cajuns.

RE: Permanent partners
UL- Tailgating and fans
ULM- food, duck dynasty tour
stAte- good fans and football
Tex. St.- closer than Idaho or New Mexico
Idaho- Better stuff to do outside the game than southern New Mexico
NMSU- Far, uninteresting part of the country.

In that order. If we add Missouri St. to the west and take ULL, then they'd go in between stAte and Texas St.

Because if this is going to be drawn at random, then getting locked in to Idao especially as your permanent cross conference matchup would be like spinning the barrell and winding up with the bullet in the chamber. NOBODY wants to have to go to Moscow every other year, including the fans. It is way too far to drive etc. And the crowds might still be smaller than some remaining SoCon stadiums.
It would be like getting the bullet. It is the number one team that gets referenced by the anti-FBS move people as someone we are going to have to play "all the time" and how it makes no sense. It would be much better if we only had to play them once every other year so that would put us going to Moscow I think once every 4 years.

I would be a little surprised if the 5-1-2 format was followed. The SEC had some great reasons for doing it: it preserved some of its biggest rivalries rather than manufacturing them. The only team this could apply to would be Troy. I'll be excited for 2014 no matter how it gets done, so the best news the conference could bring would be a time warp!

ULL -- I got hooked on the cajun food when I went to LSU. Crawfish etouffee is awesome!
Texas St -- Nice facilities, plus I have relatives a few hours away. Would love to explore Dallas, Houston, San Antonio
Ark St -- respect for the football program and the "Battle of the A's"!

Shhhh

Dont wake them.

I imagine someone would have to agree to be Idaho's partner before that could even be considered. This will be a lot easier once we know who #12 is. (Please be Missouri State!)

RE: Permanent partners
For me it has to be Louisiana Lafayette. With WKU leaving they are one of our three longest co-members along with ASU and UALR. Our basketball games are typically close and heated. See "Ronnie Arrow Loses It" on YouTube. We ready have a rivalry in baseball, and there have been some great games played between the two. And now softball has added fuel to the rivalry fire. That last softball series was insane! It's probably a matter of time before football is the same way.

I know Louisiana Lafayette loves ASU, but an across the board rivalry can exist with USA now that we have football.

Do I really need to explain it?

Being partnered with Idaho/NMSU is alluded to being a "bad thing" for the teams in the east b/c no one wants that travel schedule. Each team from the East has a 2 in 6 chance of being partnered with them.

Imagine a 6-shot pistol with 2 bullets in it and each team from the east plays Russian Roulette with said pistol. Someone's gonna get a bullet to the noggin; which, for this reference, would represent one of the teams in the east being stuck with Idaho/NMSU as a permanent partner.

Savy?

Look at it from their perspective also.
They have to travel every other year the same as you do.
Got a feeling if this happens they are going to have to have a drawing.

Agreed. but they're gonna have to travel that far no matter who they get. At least we all get a 66% of not having to travel past Texas every other year.

Louisiana Lafayette - Arkansas State - Texas State

This arrangement is better for travel. ASU is three hours closer by car.
