RE: Basketball recruiting rankings
247 seems to have the most updated recruiting player rankings. Here is the AAC's current national ranks
6 Memphis
24 SMU
30 Cincy
41 USF
45 UConn
70 Temple
85 ECU
94 UCF
Tulsa
Tulane
Houston

You can hate on our class but we recruited it when we were in a watered down CUSA and before we even got an invite. 85 is very respectable nationally.

The listing now shows ECU is at 83rd. USM is 85th.

Now memphis has 3 5 * players. That would be cool if those were used and Kansas wouldn't have jumped us.

RE: Basketball recruiting rankings
I can safely say that most Cincinnati fans are happy with this group. Now there are always a couple numb nuts (some may even be moderators) that would tell us something different. Mick has even said this is his best class in his seven years. Not sure anyone even knows what the class entails:
Cincinnati's 2013 Recruiting Class
1) Trop Caupain Midlothian, Va, 6'3" 180 ***
2) Kevin Johnson, Cincinnati, Ohio 6'2" 175 *** Ohio Division III player of the year
3) Deshaun Morman, Brandon, Fla, 6'4" 190 ***
4) Jamaree Strickland, Charlotte, NC 6'9" 230 ***
5) Jermaine Lawrence, Sparta, NJ, 6'10" 210 *****
Copied from memory only, not a paid website.

94 UCF
Up-to-date?
Far from it.
Whatever that site is...it only lists UCF with 1 recruit (from the fall) and doesn't take into account the other 3...including 2 that were signed last week:
6' 8" 260 lb JUCO PF Eugene McCrory, Maryland native, was named the MVP of the NJCAA Tournament after guiding the College of Central Florida to the championship. McCrory, an NJCAA All-America Second Team selection, averaged 17.1 points and 6.5 rebounds in 2012-13. He shot 69.6 percent from the floor, good for second in the nation. In the national championship game victory over Northwest Florida State, he scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Combo Guard Brandon Goodwin, Norcross GA: Goodwin guided Norcross to a 27-6 record as a senior and was named the Georgia Sportswriters Association Class AAAAAA Player of the Year after averaging 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.8 steals. In the state championship game win over Hillgrove, he totaled 22 points and seven boards. Goodwin received plenty of accolades following his final prep season. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution named him the Gwinnett Player of the Year.

I was referring to the individual player ranks. 247 actually seems to update most of theirs player rankings in March unlike a lot of these other sites that hardly include their actual senior years.

RE: Basketball recruiting rankings
It's nice to have 4 & 5 star players. Coaching up a player is just as important as having talent. Preston Knowles a Former Louisville basketball player was a 2 star coming out of high school, by time he left he was a bad a$$ player. Russ Smith coming out of high School was a 2 star player, he is now a AP all American 3rd team this past season. If you have a great coach who can teach & a player with the desire to learn , nothing is impossible. See Wichita ST.
SMU should end up being a really good team this coming season, they have a great coach. If they players have the heart & desire to learn. They could be next season's Wichita ST.

RE: Basketball recruiting rankings
I think finding under the radar is a lot more rare in basketball than football because all of the AAU games, the fact football products are a lot less finished etc. That said there are still a lot of "2 star" players that develop into very good player. On Memphis for example DJ Stephans was an under the radar guy that was really dominate. Just got to find them. That's coaching too identifying talent.

But that is the memphis way to have as many 5* and 4* recruits. Louisville does it too. You need hard workers but you always need that talent to push them over the hump

I agree with 247 being the better site. They change their ranking from week to week. Like other sites change maybe 3 or 4 times a year. I believe Rivals is the worst site , right along with ESPN. The 2 sites I like the best are 247 & Scout.

I agree with having as many 4 & 5 star players that you can get. Rick changed they way he recruited a few year's ago. He stopped recruiting players that have the me attitude, he wants players that have the we attitude.
Rick stopped recruiting http://247sports.com/Player/Anthony-Barber-13896 , because he stole head phones or something from current Louisville player.
He stopped recruiting http://247sports.com/Player/Rodney-Purvis-1093 , because he was all about his self. UNC ST. seems to end up with many players with bad attitudes. An they seem to flop every year.

RE: Basketball recruiting rankings
I think most of Pastners problems came from having these highly ranked kids from memphis on the team. I think it is harder to handle those many hometown kids with the voices right in his backyard talking to him. Glad Chris and Joe listened

UNC ST. Never heard of that school! You would shot in Raleigh for saying that!
