Very nice and not too surprising really. SMU is going to be an AAC bada## in basketball under Brown.

Houston had a 'top 25' 2012 recruiting class. They were freshmen last season but they'll be pretty stacked talent-wise.

Don't think so. And notice, I said "is going to be" and in the "AAC" and "under Brown" ... The AAC isn't the former Big East. But there will be four or so very good and a couple of decent basketball programs in the conference and as long as Brown is at SMU I suspect they'll have a chance at better than merely 'decent.'

ECU had an ESPN Top 100 recruit as indicated by the link. It looks though he has been magically reduced.

What I liked seeing is that there is only one Big East team (Marquette) in the Top 30 compared to our 4. I'd like the AAC to whomp them this next year. Let's turn this conference into a powerhouse.

I'd love to see some AAC-Big East made for TV games ... but I suspect the Big East schools might be looking for those sort of games against the 'Power 5' schools.

". . . our FOUR." ??? 01-wingedeagle

Maybe you haven't gotten the memo, but Louisville has announced that they're leaving the AAC, effective July 1, 2014. They're one-and-done. Celebrating the success of Louisville to the greater honor and glory of the AAC is sheer lunacy. By the time these Louisville recruits have an impact, the Cardinals will be playing in the ACC.

Don't celebrate just yet. Villanova is ranked #29 by Scout (#32 ESPN). Butler and DePaul have both signed top 50 classes, according to Scout. And St. John's recent signing of top 20, 5-star recruit, Rysheed Jordan, will obviously catapult them into the top recruiting classes as well.

RE: Basketball recruiting rankings
Personally, I like a league with top teams and bottom feeders. The old BE was awful IMO. It was damn near impossible to build a program in that conference. When Cincinnati lost Huggins they were never able to get back on top. It would have been much easier to regain their footing in CUSA. Look at what Memphis was able to do once Louisville, Cincy, Marquette and Charlotte left. I am hoping that the AAC gives an opportunity for programs like Cincinnati and Houston to get back into the upper echelon of basketball. I also like having rivals that you play twice a year.

I am wondering where ECU fans believe they have a top 100 recruit. I mean I thought 2* players were outside the top 100

That's one way to look at it.

While I can acknowledge the difficulty of building a program in the league, I don't think many would agree with that description. The league had plenty of power at the top and in the middle. Someone will always be at the bottom, just the way it is.

The ESPN link said so....I guess Stith.

It listed two 3 star recruits.

And they are bringing in a JUCO PG from nearby Louisburg (via Winston Salem), I don't think they rate JUCO's.

Cincinnati is already in the top group of the NCAA. Let's see about 17 NCAA trips in the last 21 years? Sweet sixteen a year ago, NCAA this year I don't see how you can lump Cincy and Houston in the same group.

I disagree as well. UC's struggles to rebuild its program had everything to do with the administration's decision to firebomb the program and nothing to do with the structure of the Big East. UC could have been a crown jewel of the Big East if they hadn't run Huggins off. He had some monster recruits in the pipeline.

Haha....you know you have arrived when you sign a top 100 recruit and the next day they disappear. Memphis knows all about that little move.

OMG!!! ECU never signed a top 100 recruit. I don't even think they are in the 150 range. ESPN made a error.
