Great play by Stainback. I was yelling "knock it down", and he did. That enabled Stringer to keep the ball in the infield and throw the runner out. I thought it was a correct call at the plate.

HOWEVER, the boys dug deep and made enough plays to get the win they had to have and avoid the sweep. HUGE week coming up with 2 against Tech and then the big 3 against UH. Get your rest guys. And we've got to get our pitching squared away ASAP.
As frustrating as this season and this weekend has been, one cannot accuse this team of quiting. Ever. And that bodes well going forward-- not just for the remainder of this year, but next year as well (when it's possible that we'll have everyone back save for AK, Stringer and Rat).
We need to put this weekend behind us as quickly as possible, and find a way to win at least 4 of the 5 games this coming week. However, given the academic pressures associated with the final week of the Semester (and Finals just ahead), it's not going to be easy. Just need to find a way to get to Dead week and the 10-day break in position for a strong stretch run.
This team does not lack for talent. Rather, we are underachieving and not playing up to our potential; at times, playing some pretty ugly baseball. However, once we return following Finals, with the academic burden behind our student-athletes, I fully expect us to begin playing much better and much more consistently. The question will be whether it's too little too late.

I'm sure there are a ton of academic pressures, but going back several years in the records, the Owls have won just as many games in the 10 games before finals as in the 10 after finals.

Your website has video highlights including "the play."
