I agree that fans are better behaved at Kyle Field than at Austin.
I have seen an Aggie Tshirt that said
If someone is wearing an Aggie shirt they went to A&M
If they wear a UT shirt they went to Wal Mart
and usually the ones that did not go to school there have the greatest sense of entitlement since they picked to be a UT to ride the coat-tails of a winning program.
I saw the Rice-UT game at Austin two years ago and and one frat boy shouted Obscenity Rice. There were no other shows of discourtesy by anyone else.
What really bothers me about UT fans is in the past I have heard them booing their own team when things are not going great. The Twelveth Man tradition at A&M prohibits Aggies from doing that since they are not even supposed to leave the game early when the Aggies are greatly outscored.
I consider the Cougar fans to be even worse than the Longhorn fans.
I stopped wanting to go to Robertson for the Rice games because the Cougar fans resent Rice and like to rub it in when they are winning.
I know LSU has a bad reputation but I had no trouble when I went to the 1979 Rice game at Baton Rouge but the Tigers had no trouble beating Rice that year. In 1972 at Rice, there were several LSU fans wandering around the concourse trying to pick a fight. The Tigers only won 12-6 that year.
I had been to all the stadiums in the old SWC and the Superdome for Tulane v Rice and I have not had any problems in the rest of them. I have been going to games for over 50 years. The first game I remember is my parents took me to Kyle Field on a charter train in 1959 to see A&M play Baylor. They started taking me to Rice home games about the same time.
A&M has a long-time tradition that no one except official participants
are allowed on the field except they have a senior line right before the start of the second half. They probably did not like having the fountain soaped since the Corps fish get to throw the yell leaders in the fountain after an A&M win. I went to graduate school at A&M so I know their traditions.

I've attended several games at Kyle Field in the past, including 1980 which was our last win over the Aggies.
I can honestly say that I was always treated well and never encountered rude behavior toward me and any group I was with.
I had less trouble at any game I attended at Kyle Field than any game I've ever attended in Austin. There, it didn't matter if it was close or we were down by 50, there were obnoxious fans that paid more attention to heckling Rice fans than their own team. (Admittedly, this was a minority, but they were loud, and seemed to seek out the visiting section).
I also need to add that the time frame here was the 1980's by and large.
So things may have changed. My perceptions haven't (yet).
UT fans are obnoxious. Not only do they have a sense of entitlement, many never even attended UT.
In 2008, Chase Clement's parents attended the Rice/UT game in Rice colors honoring their son. They are long time UT season ticket holders. They were heckled. (I do acknowledge the other UT fans in the same section came to the "defense" of them...)
