Is it worth $3,000,000 + expenses to implement?
$2,000,000 CUSA entrance fee.
$1,000,000 or what ever Sun Belt exit fee, if that's what it is?
Plus cost to change things out.

Because of the situation we are in, it's become a necessary "investment". That is chump change compared to what we will lose by staying in the Southland Conference... oops I mean the Sun Belt.

I am almost hoping we stay SBC just to see how you react to it. Quit calling this the Southland Conference.

Be honest. You just want us to stay in the SBC period. I have no idea why though.

The purest form of ASU fandom is sitting in a cold empty stadium watching us lose to Podunk U. It required dedication and was an exclusive club.

Is that it?

Same thing on our end. It seems strange for this to come out less than a week after our AD seemed resigned that we were going to be in the SBC. There is no way that CUSA hasnt been discussing 16 for quite some time.

If the Cajuns stay then I'm fine with staying, but if they leave then stAte better be going with them. I don't hate the Belt or the new teams in it. I just want to be in the same conference as the Cajuns. I don't want to see Southlend teams coming to the Belt.

When Bankowsky opened a crack in the door for two more...this was the inevitable result. He is probably either:

1) Serious
2) Spreading FUD trying to screw with Benson's candidates or his schedule for adding teams...and SBC unity

I don't think it matters which. The SBC is not going to be settled for a while.

The first part of his statement was great. He talked about how great all our new members were.

Its what happened afterwards when he took pot shots at FIU, UNT, and FAU, and made fun of CUSA's expansion strategy that is the odd part. You dont say that stuff if you have any intention of joining that league.

If you give a year notice, there is no exit fee in the SBC.

WKU will pay nothing to leave.

Entrance fees can be covered by not taking your piece of the television revenue pie. At 16 teams, CUSA's tv deal will pay out $875k for the next 3 years. After that, if the TV contract value declines, the teams that left for the AAC are responsible for making up the difference for another 2 years.

Anyone joining CUSA would essentially be guaranteed $4.375 million in television dollars.

Travel expenses would also likely decline compared to the SBC, especially for Ark State, which is now on an island. Revenue up, expenses down...seems like a no brainer to move to me if CUSA does actually decide to go to 16.

AR State and ULL are not going anywhere for a while. 16 in CUSA makes no sense. All of GO5 in the same boat... need OOC wins to bolster strength of conference ratings. CUSA needs to schedule AAC and Big5 schools in that slot, not another conference game. 16 is unwieldy and will result in no advantage to the conference, except a diluted GO5 payout.

Possibly preemptive? Big 12 will eventually add 2 big 10 and sec possibly 2 each that is six
Aac acc will refill etc etc.. some will come from cusa at least two.

Preemptive move cusa still stable. SBC scrambling.

When you have people beating down your door to get in... there is no scramble. JSU, Sam Houston, Mo. State, Liberty... and many many more will slip right in.

Lot of intersting what if's. Don't think the movement is finished. Since someone brought it up, Florida Sate and Clemson to the SEC has been tossed about. With Maryland gone the ACC would have to reload but who?
If they do what happens when/if they do? and better yet who?

You know Louisville, Cincy and USF said the samething when they left about their ESPN contract of 7.9 million CUSA had. And guess what CUSA got 2 7 million dollar contracts with CBSCS (CSTV) and Fox Sports.

With the Speed channel converting to FoxSports 1 next year the coverage for CUSA will be that much better. Also the HQers for FS1 will be in a CUSA city, in Charlotte. Also if they convert the Feul channel into FoxSports 2 that would be that many more spots for CUSA.

Plus there is the factor of not playing Tue-Thurs games. Marshall has 2 Friday games this year but they are both away games.

I'll be satisfied with wherever we end up if UL is included in it.04-cheers

I didnt say that. I would gladly accept an AAC or MWC invite if it came along. Ive debated looking at the MAC.

You and I both know we get absolutely zero attendance increase, and almost zero in terms of donation increases from accepting a move to CUSA. I want something that will improve our program, not offer us more games that I cant watch on TV, and a national perception that is just as crappy as what we have now.

Why can't you watch us on TV? Do you not have basic cable?
