You don't want a stadium and............ poof....... you get a stadium......
You don't want to get banned and...... poof....... you get banned..........
You don't want to keep Floyd and........poof....... you get to keep floyd...
Brotha, you're one unlucky son of a gun. I'd hate to ask you what your stance was on Asarco. Please want us to not have a good season

I'm flattered that you care so much about me. I live a very happy life thank you very much.
As for the stadium. I never said I didn't want it. I only said that I didn't think we should tear down city hall to get it.
I didn't want to get banned but I got banned for something I didn't do. I get how this forum works now. It shouldn't happen again.
UTEP can keep Floyd if they want to. The fans however are are starting to realize that his brand of basketball might be relatively successful but ultimately not something that is going to put butts in the seats.
It's been three years and I don't think he has had a single sell out.
11K should up for the Memphis game. There were several 9K CUSA conference games. But true, not one sell out this past season, but yes, there has a been at least one sell out under Coach Tim Floyd.
"The fans" makes it sound like the a big number or group. It isn't. It is a handful of guys on the internet (which is a very small percentage of the fan base) and the local sports radio show (an even smaller percentage of the fan base).
The town was shitting bricks when Coach Floyd talked to USC. El Paso, by a large majority, wants Saint Floyd to stay in El Paso until he retires.

I've heard a similar song and dance from you before. This past november you said that there were a lot of people against the stadium and it would not pass, and BAM, what do you know, it passed by a landslide. You tend to exaggerate.
First game St. Floyd ever coached at UTEP was a sell out

I assure you that I have no desire to talk about Floyd. I continuously have to defend what I have said in the past however.
As for the one sell out. If I am not mistaken, it was the first game with Floyd against Pacific. A game that UTEP lost. In that game, Floyd benched Culpepper for taking a three pointer.
It was that incident and the subsequent season that changed my mind about Floyd.
As for the fans. Most fans are sophisitcated enough to know about the inns and outs of basketball. All they care about is wins and losses.
However, there are a lot of younger Miner fans that are sick and tired of seeing the Witchita St., VCU's and Florida Gulf Coasts of the world get recognized and admired for their mid major brilliance and their amazing "out of the box" coaches while we continue to cling to any link to the legacy of a Hall of Fame coach whose hay day took place in the 80's.
After what I saw the first season, I decided that Floyd wasn't my guy so naturally ( and I have every right to do so) I'm going to tell people who want to talk UTEP basketball.
Maybe the first couple of seasons, I sounded like the town kook. But more and more people are starting to feel the way I do. Even Kappy admitted that this season the Miners underachieved.
Next season perhaps the Miners make it to the sweet 16 and I end up being wrong.
For now however, more and more people are starting to see things my way.
Of course i played sports. I still play sports to this day. I also currently coach football, soccer, and golf and I have coached basketball, baseball, and track in the past.
