It could also be that the conference is looking to have to take in some rather underwhelming additions and they do not want them to be insulted by what certain communities would have to say about it if they found out now.

Hey He1nous, it's not just the Aresco league that is sitting on information. There is a lid on all of it right now. I think they are using the distraction of the basketball tournament to try to wrap this thing up. It could be a volatile April. Slive will be making an announcement about the SECN mid month and has promised to reveal what he calls substantially enhanced content. But right now other than TYoda nothing. No press releases, no comments by stray AD's, no head coaches, no university presidents, no commissioners, and not even beat writers are talking moves. I think they have gauged the public's discontent and they want to anger everyone just once more and then that's it.

Yes, and the list they are applying to join is the chock full of conferences worried about either being directly raided by the New Big East or being raided by conferences responding to New Big East raids.

The bylaws are very clear ~ no matter what else they do, they have to be named as a Div1 conference in NCAA legislation to qualify as a core multi-sport conference. So that can't just be waived through in a committee, it has to go to a vote among Division 1 members.

At the same time, Marquette is making a run, which is legitimizing their case, so they surely don't want to be distracting from that.

Twitter and Forum Prophets are really coming out of the woodwork lately actually. "Oh my source in the SEC offices says this...." "Oh my source at NC State says this...." and on and on not even mentioning the WVU guys that now have their own internet radio show and bring on guests from the actual media. Realignment talk is gearing up with regular folks and I think the big wigs are worried about that. It becomes harder to have secret negotiations when realignment becomes a Democracy. Things run more smoothly under Monarchial rule.
