The other interesting note had to do with officiating and the importance of finding the right lead as well as determining the style of play. This needs to be addressed at a joint AD/men's basketball coaches meeting.

That's how I read it. I think the situation is that we need them to not be the Big East by May 1. On May 1, we're going to ask for a motion "to approve an automatic bid for the Big East." We can't really do that if there already is a Big East with an automatic bid.

I think just as important is the style of play that was noted. I think it'd be smart to open up the game somewhat. Probably has had something to do with the problems the Hoya's have had transitioning from BE play to NCAA play the last few years.

Since the A12 has knowledge of this, I think they would be subject to litigation if they fail to rename before then and cause harm to the new Big East.

and P.S. the physical style of play isn't just in the Big East. The NCAA refs needs to meet in the off season to discuss how fouls are going to be called nation wide.

The Big East style of play is what made the Big East. Marqutte seems to be riding high on it. Same with Syracuse and Louisville. Tough schools from the North East = the definition of "Big East"

I'd suspect the Big East website will be Aresco controlled thru 6/30.

I haven't cared much about the league's possible names. But this has to be the worst I've heard by far. It's a complete blah. No energy, no excitement. They could at least have tried All American. That would have connoted some enthusiasm. The American Conference??? Are they serious? Sounds totally generic, a name that could fit anyone, everyone, and no one. Nothing distinctive. Nothing that identifies the members in any way.

When the name Big East was chosen 34 years ago, the intro was that the 2nd part tells where you are and the first part says where you want to be. What does American Athletic conference tell us? How does it say anything about this group of schools or their aspirations.

This is simply a pathetic effort after all the time and money that's been spent.

We have decided to keep the office in Providence indefinitely. No plan to move, which I think is important to send a good message to the staff.

I’m looking at doing some of the things I wanted to do in the fall, but did not have the opportunity. I want to promote what we have in a variety of ways.

We have stability now. We have had so such turmoil, but now I want to stabilize things and keeping the office in Providence will help achieve that.
