You gotta like his tackling skills

Yep. If he ends up at corner he'll be a physical one and if he stays at safety he'll be able to cover well.

I love how quickly he gets downhill. Reminds me a bit of Gabe Baker's high school film.

RE: 2014 Football Recruiting
Moondog at Rivals reported that twin brothers Austin (RB) and Aston (QB-ATH) Walter both committed to Rice on Sunday. Both accounted for 2000+ yards of offense their junior years. Both have 3-stars at Rivals and are not yet ranked by Scout or ESPN. Both are around 5'8", 180 lbs. They apparently made it pretty early in the recruiting process that they would be attending the same school. So far Rice and Yale were the only two schools to offer both, though Austin also had offers from San Diego St., LATech, and N. Texas, and both had interest from quite a few programs.

RE: 2014 Football Recruiting
Austin rushed for 1976 yards and 20 TDs and caught 29 passes from his brother Aston for another 288 yards and two more TDs. His highlight tape lasts over nine minutes and I think he was only tackled nine times. He's small but extremely elusive, fast (looks faster than the reported 4.6) and strong. Watch his tape, it's exciting.

Morris and Clark are from Mesquite Horn, and Ponder is from Mansfield. All three are 5A. Jenkins is from Dallas Lincoln, a 4A school.

The best 4A schools, which I think would include Crosby the last several years, are essentially as good as all but the best 5A schools. Not much difference in the week to week competition. When you drop down to 3A and below is where there's a noticeable drop-off.

These two guys look great.

Great. Was afraid we might be slipping into the Hatfield mode where it seemed he was only recruiting from the smaller schools the last few years of his tenure

A couple ~290ish DTs and two 6'6" offensive tackles on the ledger. Class is shaping up nicely in the trenches early.

The Owls picked up another pledge yesterday from Denzel Thomas, a 6-1, 224 lb. linebacker from Mesquite Poteet. He was 2nd team 4A All-State last year as a junior and runs an 11 flat 100 meters.

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Dave Campbell's Texas Football had a nice write-up on the latest 2 commits this week. Scroll down past all of the draft related information to get their perspective. Seems very positive.

One liner in an article on 2014 recruiting... that Rice's 2014 class so far is ahead of Stanford.
