Did you miss the WVU tactic of "F-U we're leaving try and stop us"? GoR is just like any other contract with a way out of it.

I would say a GOR can be worked around if both conferences have the same Network (FOX). B12 - P12.

How that works out, I don't know. I do know that it is one of his pet projects.
I could see that. What I can't see is them having an over the air network like the LHN due to the spread out fanbase and the lack of BB inventory available.

It takes two parties to agree to any term in a contract.
The Catholic schools did not "write that backdoor" by themselves. It takes two to tango.
That said, I suspect there are no "easy out clauses" in the GOR.
With Texas, though, one never knows. They have the clout to have negotiated themselves an out.
However, no attorney (with any sense, anyway) would render any legal opinions about a contract without reading the actual wording of the document.
P.S. I have never had any problems with WVU filing suit and getting out of the Big East for the Big 12. This college football TV money stuff is a real dog eat dog, every man for himself business and the Mountaineers did well to escape the Aresco League when they did.

Agreed. Swarbrick has so acknowledged many times in interviews on the subject.
My question is what content (if any) does ND have for such a network that other ACC schools do not?

Actually that was written by the C7 AND the FB schools including your own Mountaineers. It was so the FB schools could get enough years together under their belts and then they can say "F-U we're leaving" without paying a dime. No one saw that the FB schools would all leave separately forcing the C7 to put it into play. The FB schools were always the ones who it was for. Thats why the C7 had to buy the name back. The original idea would be that the FB schools wouldn't want the name and come up with something else.

Had it been my decision, I'd have taken the get out of jail free option while it was available. That way the football schools could have done what they needed to insure their own security, without any interference from non-football interests. But since it wasn't my decision, nobody listened to me...

their will be plenty of content for the Irish Digital TV, UNC currently offers live broadcast of Olympic sports(some in HD) along with condensed & full replays of every football & basketball game along with all the coaches shows etc on its goheels tv subscription based service. the only thing you will not be able to do is broadcast live men's basketball games unless its a non conference game that isn't selected by ESPN or any other network

Not if that was able to fend off the ACC. Keeping our longtime nearby rivals would have been the priority...
But if the ACC was still able to swipe Pitt and Syracuse, sure. The remaining football schools would still find themselves in the same position they're in today. Who needs that?

I think even if the lawsuit comes down on Maryland's side the Big 10 is going to have a tough time luring anybody else away.
GOCARDS:
As much as I hate to burst your ACC bubble, I think there are a number of schools that do not feel they're getting the most of their membership. The addition of Notre Dame is not helping as Notre Dame will take all of the BCS bowl money for itself and not share with the league. Not only that, if Notre Dame has the best record in the league, they will take the ACC top bowl spot. I'm certain that the FSU and Clemson's of the ACC do not like that arrangement. I definately see the stronger or more successful football programs leaving in the near future. All are not smiling like your Cards.

Nah, I know better. Carry on.
Pretty sure the sun doesn't have enough mass to turn into a supernova.

Not sure why you would think that. They were a founding member and their athletics, academics and location fit the ACC perfectly.
Because all these fans of Big East schools think they know/run sh*t in the ACC now. It's quite annoying.

Yeah Wilkie I'll buy that and West Virginia and Oklahoma/Ok State for the SEC, and Texas, Oklahoma/Ok State, Kansas State & Texas Tech for the PAC. Then if any of the conferences want to go to 18 they can choose from: Baylor, T.C.U., Iowa State, Cincinnati, South Florida, Wake Forest, Brigham Young, Boise State, Nevada, New Mexico, and Hawaii, or another.

Where would they play, then? Unless there's expansion and invites from the ACC, I don't think they'll go anywhere, until that happens. Going Indy would be a disaster.
