Should ND move to Big East?
Will Notre Dame join their fellow Catholic colleges with a great media contract and a tournament at MSG while remaining football independent?

Sounds like an absolutely perfect fit. Am I crazy?

ND isn't getting ACC football money, so their ACC share will be much less than that.

Do we know how much ND is going to get from the ACC's TV package?

That ACC number is largely for football which ND won't be included in. In BE they'll get that 3-4 mill on top of the NBC football contract they get.

ND will be getting something from the ACC on top of their NBC contract as well. They will also have access to ACC bowls.

ND did issue a statement that the C7 would be a viable option for them for 2013.

If I were ND I wouldn't waste my time with the nBE, even for a year.

The final season of oBE hoops stands to be pretty good with ND, Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis, Temple, UConn ect. Its tough to do much better than that for basketball, IMO.

ND will be making as much as the C7 in the ACC, around 3.5 mil.

That's only looking at the TV cash.

Basketball revenue sharing in the ACC is more established and far higher. Plus some of the other sports ND's budget is a mismatch for nBE budgets.

1. What revenue besides TV money do they share? Tournament gate?

2. They were in the same league with 5 of the 10 members they would be competing against since the mid 90's and 2 others for the last decade. I think we're fine competing with them.

they really only get 3.5 of the 17 mill. I thought they coulda got at least 50%. Orange bowl access and whatever other .com bowls the ACC have is another source of $$$

The FB stuff is a trade off for their scheduling agreement. For BBall they get around 3.5 mil. The ACC apparently does the 80/20 split.

YES, yes you are. ND will not be joining the nbe (or obe - the conference name tbd). Your 3-4m is really 1.8m for one thing. The ACC tv money is significant in basketball - more than the tbd money in total. BCS type bowl agreements.

fsu or uh? clemson or tulane? miami or ecu? memphis or ncstate? uconn or unc? pitt or ucf? syracuse or usf? You play like you're the leprechaun - who do you think you'd prefer playing?

RE: Should ND move to Big East?
This is about more than basketball and money for Notre Dame. Sure, basketball would be fine in the C-7 but what about all of their other Olympic sports. Notre Dame values their Olympic sports a lot and the ACC is one of the best Olympic sports league in the country. The Catholic schools do their best but most just can't fund all of the other sports at the same level other than maybe Georgetown.

Is that similar to "My name is Jim Donnan and I am a notorious drunk"?

Or "My name is Jim Donnan and I am a Ponzi scheming fraud"?

The C7 would be an option for one year if ND left now, They are not a long term option.
