I'd be all about that, but the A10 should still be a decent league. I don't see it happening.

I would be open to talking with VCU. If I remember right, they were recently talking about possibly adding football down the road.

They were, but they don't have the money, and they'd most likely have to use a stadium that isn't located on campus, with little room for improvement.

I dont think so they lost all their best schools. Its a 1 bid league now that xavier abd butler left.I think VCU and GW would be good they all close enough to ODU. Or one of the Philly schools would be cool to but I think StJoes later on joins the C7.

I'd love to have VCU around again, just to keep the rivalry alive, and also to have a team fairly close. Don't think they'd bite though, I think they enjoy being in an all basketball-only league. Although, if CUSA could add VCU and a western basketball only, maybe missouri state, they may be interested. You can do worse than an ODU, Charlotte, UAB, Marshall, VCU east division in basketball. And if we get WKU that just sweetens the pot.

Maybe add VCU & GMU in the east and Wichita St & Mo.St. out west...
that would make it 14 for FB and 18 for everything else...
The CAA is dying, the A10 is about to get rocked, and the MVC just lost their crown jewel.

I disagree that the A10 will be a 1-bid league. That implies that VCU will essentially be the only team in the tourney from the A-10 every year. That won't happen. Richmond is a solid program as well and will make it probably every other year. Additionally, at least 1 of St. Louis, Dayton, UMass, or GW would trade off getting bids.

With all these virginia schools. C-usa should have the C-USA basketball tourny in norfolk or something.

That's right...ESPN already reported that St Louis and Dayton are in the Big East in 2014.

That would be a good idea. I like it. Stay 14 with football but go to 18 with basketball and all other sports.
VCU and George Mason in the East....
Missouri State and Wichita State in the West.....

RE: Any leftover A-10 basketball schools we can steal away?
In all seriousness, VCU must be going ballistic. They've gone from an elite BB conference to an ordinary one almost overnight. It's like they found out that the really hot chick they met at the bar was really a dude. What a downer!
I understand that there are some decent teams left (i.e. Richmond), but I believe the remaining schools recruiting will suffer with the loss of so many marquee programs. And this will eventually erode the quality of the league.
For this reason, I think VCU is in play. I'm not saying CUSA will get them, but I think we and the League Formerly Known As The Big East have the best shot. VCU has existing relationships with many of the nCUSA schools...and ODU is their hated rival...so we would be strong contenders.
Of course all of this presupposes that our conference would want to create a hybrid league. We might. We might not. And if so, we would have to find another team to balance VCU. Wichita State would be cool. If Tulsa sticks around, that would work well. We would have a pretty freaking good BB league.

Hybrids aren't bad if the FB playing members maintain a significant advantage.
