I can agree with most of that, but what would YOU do if after noticing the bigs were not fronting their guys as instructed and were not rebounding? Repeatedly?
Let it go?

Pastner is the CEO, now he needs a competent President and Vice President to actually run the company's day to day operations, and make these things happen.
I felt much better when a guy like Wllis Wilson was on the bench, and our players developed when he was here.
This is getting ridiculous.
DJ hasn't improved one bit.

No, he actually regressed and has no business playing D1 ball.

Yep. Pastner sucks. Some of you folks need to back up and try to gain a little perspective.
You are right on, all of the above plus the fact we dug ourselves into a big hole.

Awww...
Discussing an overall inexperienced staff if no big deal.
That is not how you presented it (nor what you were doing). Bemoaning that we need a staff that can develop players, make adjustments and implement game plans (something every team everywhere needs anyway) insinuates we have a coaching staff that cannot develop players, cannot make adjustments and cannot implement game plans. We know you know that.
It rings especially hollow when bringing that up after the first loss in over two months.
Stay thirsty my friend!

RE: Lack of Bench Coaching
Free throws...To me that's what lost this game...
That's not on Pastner.
I think Josh is doing a good job, however, his lack of in-game adjustments can hurt this team in the tournament, just as it did the other night. You've got to adjust as the game dictates. He should have thrown in some zone in the first half. He also should have stepped up the pressure, full court, from the start. Xavier has a short bench, so tire them out with the press because you've got the talent and the bench to do that.
That's my beef with Pastner, in-game adjustments and sometimes, substitution patterns.
Bottom line the other night was free throws, the rebounding effort, lack of adjustment and pressure.
Now it's time to move forward. AND continue to win.

Lets just be grateful that we have the talent to win 18 games in a row without a coach. Few teams could just roll the balls out and win like that.

I used to think Pastner was kidding when he talked about high expectations are. He said 1 loss and they want to fire me.

This is what I'm talking about in this thread. I understand that some of the fault was free throws the other night, but you're right about adjustments, and I feel like a more experienced staff could assist with these issues, and could possibly help with developing players like Adonis, Tarik, Hall, etc.
Do we know if we have a team sports psychologist on staff, that could maybe help in the mental aspects of the game?

Nobody talked about firing Pastner in this thread, nor that he wasn't the right guy or only problem that we have.

People talk about getting rid of CJP here on a daily basis.

I have often cited the same problems with JP about in game adjustments and rotation (even in wins this season). However, in this specific game I did not feel there was much else he could do. Shaq got hit with 2 fouls in 2 minutes. With our lack of depth in the paint that screwed the entire rotation up and forced players to play out of position. And as far as adjustments; we scored 20 points in the first half and 42 in the second half. Successful adjustments were made. We just did not make our free throws and missed a wide open shot down the stretch.
