RE: 2014 Official Verbal Thread
Nieman is listed as OLB on both rivals and 247. He has apparently commited to Iowa. He is rated as a 2* and recieved offers from NIU, EMU, and Iowa. In an earlier comment it was said that his dad knew the LB coach @ Iowa. It almost feels like Iowa reached on him as he was not very highly rated. If he does not want to be here, fine, but with his dad as an current NIU coach, it sends a strange signal. Rivals also confirms Iowa commitment.

Coach Nieman can't recruit his own son to play at NIU. I kind of understand why he may want to leave town and do his own thing....but also find this very sad and frustrating. The poaching gets so old.

I can't blame Niemann at all if he has in fact left. Most kids want to play at the highest level possible. And playing for your dad would be a little weird. Good luck to him. We're still not even half way through the recruiting year and there are tons of great players still out there. We will get an excellent recruiting class. This stuff is par for the course.

I'm looking forward to getting all these 3* athletes as well come February.

You are wise and correct. No offense to Niemann but this may be part of Iowa's decline...they are offering lower level recruits and they jump at the scholly. Meantime NIU get a stronger recruit at the end of the whole crazy process.

I'd say most 17-18 year old kids probably want to go to college well away from their parents, especially when their parents work at the university and would be "very involved". Amazing some of the comments worried about this.

I think we all just need to realize how hard recruiting can be that a guy can't even keep his own son committed. As long as the Huskies keep winning though, we can't complain too much about our recruiting results.

RE: 2014 Official Verbal Thread
I actually feel pretty good that a Big 10 school is poaching our recruits. What does that say about our recruiting class? And, what does that say about Iowa's!!!!!! I agree, we haven't even played a game this season. If we can knock off Iowa or Purdue or both, we will get some good recruits committing pretty fast.
