With so much change the last few years, everyone in the big 5 should take a couple seasons to adapt to their new membership...just my opinion.

That article definitely doesn't make it sound like the Big XII wants to expand. Hopefully their commissioner is telling the truth.

People in Texas have been telling you folks this forever. Mack Brown and Stoopes have said more teams equals more losses for the better programs...something that hurts the conference overall and affects bowl access. If those two and their respective AD's had been on the other side you'd have seen the B12 growing exponentially already.

10 needs approval to back into a semifinal game for a 20 team conference. Think about it.

The B12 may not make any moves for now, because TX does not want to. But some of the other teams do, and the friction between TX and the rest of the conference led to Nebraska, TAM, Mizzou and Colorado leaving. I would not be surprised if Kansas is talking to the B1G now. And the B1G is the key driver here, everything seems to derive from what they do.

Kansas can talk, doesn't mean the Big is listening.

The Grant of Rights may hold Kansas back from being able to join another conference.

I say may because there have been some questions on whether or not the grant of rights would hold up in court.

Just say no.

or

The BE should stay at 10 and have a Championship Game with the B-12 for
big money.

or

All conferences must be at at least 12 teams with a Championship Game to put the Conference Champion in the play off.

No independents allowed in the play off.

RE: Big 12 meets regarding expansion, could it be good for NBE
From what I hear out of WVU the Big12 could add any two schools and the payout would not change per school. If they decided to go beyond 12 those schools would have to bring value or at least be revenue neutral. That leaves expansion wide open and gives some "non-power" schools reason to hope. If expansion becomes a reality for the Big12 to continue to get along they could take two "Non-power" schools and not have to pry any ACC schools away. I wonder if they would add any more Texas schools though. They have a Texoma division already with UT, TT, TCU, BU, OSU, and OU. Could add two in WVU direction to help their travel.

Perhaps the Big East needs to think about that. I am also not sure that the benefits of having a conference championship game outweigh the drawbacks.

It is the way the BE did business before, with its eight FB teams.

The Big 12 teams are getting paid more, per team, than any other conference in the country, that's what their commish said last night in Stillwater.

If Cin & NM are brought in, payout stays they same.
BYU carries thier own wieght
if ColoSt brings in 10 million
payout decreases million a yr.
However getting BYU in, protects conf from losing schools.
if B-12 loses 6, BYU is already in.
BYU would not join with Tex, TT, Okla, OSU, KU & WV gone.

Here is the part that many of you are ignoring.
IF the Big12 will get pay the same amount per team wether they have 10 or 12 members then what is their incentive to add BYU, UC or any other school that wont draw for them attendancewise.

Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, WV are NOT going to vote to add lets say BYU and UC if that makes them play divisional games in which they lose the chance to play Texas and Oklahoma EVERY year and every other year at home and replace them with BYU or UC.

They know They won't get any ACC schools outright so this is the saving face move.

Aye, if your twitter - Its @theDudeofWV he's WVU blogger (http://dudeofwv.blogspot.com/) but has been fairly up on things. Supposedly has connections in WVU, some B1G contacts as well a Orangebloods Chip Brown. I dont take any of this mess to gospel, but for what it is worth...

The Dude of WV ‏@theDudeofWV:

"WVU source reiterated what Denis Dodd reported earlier this year. B12 adds 2 revenues stay the same no matter who they are."

"Its only 13 and 14 that will have to add money."
