He's an all purpose back. That's why I wanted him on the team. He can run, catch, and return kickoffs. Its a bigger loss for us than it is a win for troy. Was probably the best athlete we had committed. Just my opinion. I'm probably way off on talent evaluation. LOL.

Kalvin Robinson only had official visits to UAB and WKU. FWIW, the WKU Rivals site quotes him as saying he fell in love with their football facilities and it showed that Western actually cares about sports and athletes succeeding. (paraphrased)
A friend of his from VHHS, Marcus Ward, was already committed to WKU and that was also a factor.

If I had to guess what's going on now, is that Uab may have been some of these recruits first offer. So most of our coaching staff has been somewhere that they have established themselves as a decent recruiter. So other coaches at other schools may look at our commitments and say hey those coaches have proven they can get good recruits before and the uab coaches have proven they can evaluate talent. Other coaches poach our commitments looking for a diamond in the rough. Examples of players who may have had interest from elsewhere but I think uab was there first offer. Javiere Mitchell, kind of the 2012 version of Zach Cunningham, blew up over senior season and received big offers yet uab offered in his junior season.Mitchell ended up being a 4 * going to AU. Now its Kamryn Melton and Cameron toney and Nigel Harris. Am I slightly right or far closer to being wrong?

There was a lot of talk about in-state recruiting, our perception out-of-state is better than in-state, losing all these in-state recruits to schools out-of-state in lower conferences really is a slap in the face, make you not really care where they come from next year.

It's public. In Madison, AL.
I believe it was the largest in the state at least once in the last 5 years. When I graduated in 03 we had fewer than 500 in our class. It was 10-12 back then, and I believe it the graduating class size has been increasing every year since.
They just opened James Clements this past year, and I believe the 9th graders went back to the high schools. The overall size of Bob Jones will probably remain about the same, but it will be with an additional grade added.

I never cared, and this was one of the reasons why. I want the best 20-25 recruits we can get each year, and I don't care if they come from Alaska, Maine, or Alabama. If it's close, take the local guy.(and this is purely to see if attendance #'s can be helped) If not, you don't owe anybody anything.

Fuller and McCollum are two of my favorite signees! They are quality players!

It makes a huge difference to our bottom line. About 10k per year per player.

RE: Visitors this weekend (Champlin article at post #2)
That Shirreff kid is big, physical, has a good arm and decent footspeed. He looks very good to me. I hope we offer him, and he accepts. I wonder if we picked up anybody over the weekend? It's been awefully quiet.........we sure have enough spaces left now (after losing Mullens, McCall, Robinson, Hart and JJ Green).
