Previous rounds of C-USA realignment (to include its creation) were not as focused on markets as this one obviously is. So much so, that all of Troy's history doesn't compare to an infantile Georgia State program that's located IN ATLANTA!

I think we should continue the series with troy i think it has been a good rivalry for UAB there has been a bunch of really good games. However i wouldn't mind scheduling JSU or Samford. I think having good instate rivalries are good for the state as a whole.

We bring way more to you guys than y'all bring to us.... 28k
Last year and it was leaps and bounds higher than any of your conference games... I wish y'all brought the numbers to us as we do y'all. But it's not the case.

I'd like to continue the game
With y'all. But if not it won't effect us none.

The condoms keep taking credit for our opening crowd last year. I'm sure a significant part of it was the opponent, but a large number were also excited that it was the first game of the year under a new head coach.

That is because there are more Troy fans in Birmingham than there are UAB fans in Troy. There are Troy fans that live in Bham that have probably not attended a game in Troysince they were in school.

I'd rather play Memphis every year than Troy, but if we're talking SE Louisiana (or something comparable) vs Troy, then I would go with Troy. But either way, I wouldn't be upset with or without the Troy game.

I can point to many conference crowds larger than Troy crowds. We can also look at UAB being your biggest draw several times as well. Don't come here to our board spewing your garbage.

Do we even need to discuss basketball? Would u like to go there as well?

If access to an interstate is one of the criteria for admission for entry to CUSA, that opens up all sorts of possibilities, and still excludes Troy. 03-lmfao

That's closer to the point, blad. What I said - and I've posted it here before - is a bold claim regarding CUSA's reasoning on expansion, so I grabbed a map to help visualize the distinct hurdle facing Troy vs. other schools in locations considered "remote". Below is a population density map zoomed to include Troy (right-middle) and Hattiesburg (just left of center). I won't belabor the point, but just being "remote" is not the issue...it's an exercise of assuming the school put maximum resources into success and got maximum returns then determining if the region around the school even has the capacity to respond positively and somewhat equally. To use a close-enough term, you can see that Hattiesburg already has somewhat of an "economic corridor" itself but that there are also significant existing corridors nearby in every direction except looking northeast. Troy, in contrast, has a very weak existing "economic corridor" and only the isolated corridors around Montgomery and, marginally, Dothan. So the school, including athletics, can do everything perfect but still be held back just from the basic lack of population and type of infrastructure that can become catalysts for economic engines.

Previous rounds of C-USA realignment (to include its creation) were not as focused on markets as this one obviously is. So much so, that all of Troy's history doesn't compare to an infantile Georgia State program that's located IN ATLANTA!

I can't understand why everyone acts like this round of realignment is so much more about markets than anything before. The creation of the Great Midwest and Metro conferences were based on markets so that's always been a factor. The difference now is that as the number of TV slots available on satellite and cable have exploded, so has the number of schools that could justify FBS football. Now that the elite levels of the sport are consolidating (first allowing 12 w/ divisions, and now with whatever they want), the other FBS football schools are looking to places they never had to before. It just so happens that this is driving decisions that confuse the hell out of fans - who care only about wins & losses, stadiums, and how the school looks in a bar on ESPN - when the reality is that schools and conferences have ALWAYS considered totally different criteria.
