You agreed with his post and then kind of ignored what he was saying. Chris did much more to lose his spot than just missing shots. AS 450 was alluding to, when Chris's shot is off, his whole game is off. He stops playing as hard on defense, he gets tunnel vision, and his body language is awful. As streaky as Geron has been, his defense is always on point, he is always a calm, focused leader, and he always sees the court fairly well.

Dude, what?
Geron's defense has been consistently sub-par when compared to Crawford's. Geron commits silly fouls 30 ft from the basket and can't stay in front of his man off the dribble as well as Crawford. Geron not keeping his man man in front of him resulted in multiple fouls for Tarik, Shaq and DJ last night.
Crawford has struggled on offense, and hangs his head when he makes a dumb pass every now and then, but he has been playing the second best perimeter defense on the team the last handful of game (after Joe).

You can't be serious...Chris is an excellent defensive player, IMO, especially when his confidence is on, like last night but Geron Johnson is a fantastic defensive player...Fantastic...He has the best footwork on the team defensively...He plays tight defense on his man, meaning inches away from him because he has the quickness to do that...That also translates into a foul or 2 then he adjusts some and then the fouls go away...Johnson's game is built on tenacious, in your face, tight defense
If you were to ask players and coaches who the best defensive player on the team is, EVERYONE would say Geron...

The best defensive player on the team is DJ Stephens.
Zero people would say that Geron is a better defender than DJ.
I think you need to go back and watch Geron the last few games. His fouls per 40 minutes has skyrocketed lately, while Crawford's are down around a comfortable 3.0. Jackson's are even better at 2.8. Geron is almost at 4.
All the tenacious defense in the world doesn't do any good when Geron is saddled with foul trouble or sending opposing PGs to the line for 1-and-1's on a foul 40 ft from the basket.
Geron is a good to great overall defender, and does some things better than Crawford. Crawford, generally, is a better, though.

DJ plays a different and unique style defense, which is based on timing...Tough to teach and is just God given and truly unique...Geron is a classic on-ball, in your face defender with insane footwork...Big difference between the two
Every player on the team knows that Geron is the best defender on the team...EVERY PLAYER
Geron has 37 fouls in 14 games which is 2.64 fouls per game...Hardly foul trouble

It's not about fouls per game, it's about fouls per time played.
You're entitled to your own opinion, but I've noticed this over the past several games, once people started in on Crawford. Geron plays defense well, but he gambles and he fouls. DJ is our best defensive player (by a LARGE margin) and I'd say Crawford and Joe are better defenders than Geron, if you look at the totality of the game.

Yep, Geron does gamble and foul but he is still a really good defender. That is a problem almost every player on our team has. Look at the big men. They foul going for blocks or swatting at a guard on the perimeter. Both Joe and CC pick up fouls regularly swatting for a steal.
DJ is our most tenacious defender, not through skill or footwork, through effort and natural ability and timing. I hope DJ finds himself in a position to continue working on improving his actual fundamental skills over the next few years.

He was back for a bit then he missed a shot and reverted.
Pastner is doing an excellent job of rotating him. As soon as his shoulders dropped and he layed up on defense, he was pulled. Play him as long as he is hot and defending.

He had a solid 10 minute stretch in the first half. Maybe a bit longer.

Proud of Crawford for the clutch free throws at the end. Does this mean he has large private areas?? I swear my own butthole got tight there at the end.

Adonis' defense needs to improve. I want the glue Adonis back that was there last year before he got hurt. He did get to the foul line today.
