I really can't see this being our roster. This is almost TOO MUCH juice for one team. There is no way to get everyone the playing time that they were promised.
IMO, Adonis or Tarik won't be here next season.
Antonion Barton will not be here (just my opinion, but I would bet the farm).
No Hipp here next season.
Also, perhaps one of our freshmen (incoming) doesn't qualify.
Good call.
Where would Adonis or Tarik go?
They'd go make money. Geron possibly as well.

Geez. Now the Tigers are down to like seven players. No Hipp, no AB, no Adonis, a least one Frosh doesn't make it. Geron gone too. Joe has a great run and goes.
Stop it...

Wherever they can. They wouldn't be the first college players to try to jump to the NBA before they we ready.

a 7 scholarship roster is just as much a possibility as a 12 man, all top 100 player roster.

It is not going to work out. The short the rotation, the better the results. If we don't play Top 50 recruits, it will hurt us with recruiting. Thomas needs to go and get picked pretty high.
The rotation should be 8-9 players
Jackson
C. Crawford
Johnson
Goodwin
Black
Nichols
Powell
Iverson
King
AB and Hipp could transfer via the graduation rule. M. Crawford (coming off of the injury, might even RS) and Wilson will be projects. I think King is going to take some time to adjust to the D1 level as well.

RE: Looking ahead...2013 roster 'conundrum'
Obviously the best thing for Memphis is for Adonis to go on a run and be drafted in the first round. He is currently projected as the 53rd pick, and 15th best small forward according to Chad Ford. Whats sticks out to me this season is how often do you remember Adonis dunking the ball? He's a strong, athletic 6'6 guy, he should be able to overpower people and slam it home. Best thing to do when shots aren't falling is to attack the rim. He has been more aggressive the past few games taking it to the rim, so I still have hope for him coming making the jump.

RE: Looking ahead...2013 roster 'conundrum'
Speculation of who gets the minutes or becomes part of the rotation is less-than-pointless.
In a similar exercise before this season, nearly everyone had DJ as mop-up only... based on anecdotal tales of Simpson's improvement(!) and other factors.
Fact-- you never know who's going to develop when, or how smooth a HS player's transition to D1 ball will be.

RE: Looking ahead...2013 roster 'conundrum'
The 'conundrum' refers to the 14 players that could come back and only having 13 scholarships. That problem will fix itself with players leaving and transferring. Also, while having all that talent is a good problem to have, I'm sure it could turn into a headache for Josh. Let's be honest, we can say all day long..."whoever practices the hardest will play"...and that's partly true. However, we've seen Josh struggle on settling on a rotation this year. How's he going to when ALL those guys want PT. It's possible some highly rated players don't get much PT and that could hurt us in recruiting.
FWIW, I think we'll lose 6-7 this off-season (including grads) so it wont be as big of a concern. Great teams need great talent and we will certainly have enough. For everyone who said "no excuses" this year, there certainly won't be any room for excuses next year...

How are you coming up with 6 to 7? We will lose 3 to graduation (DJ, Hall, Stan), and have to lose one more to either the draft or a transfer (Adonis or Hipp). How are you coming up with 2 to 3 more losses? So you think we will go into next season with only 10 to 11 scholarship players?

DJ Stephens - Graduation
Stan Simpson - Graduation
Ferrokahn Hall - Graduation
Antonio Barton - Transfer closer to family/eligible immediately due to early graduation rules
Hippolyte Tsafack - Transfer to a lower-level program, maybe NAU with Jack.
Joe Jackson - Could turn pro early
Adonis Thomas - Could turn pro early
Even if we lost all of them, we'd still be fine. We'd have 10 scholarship players, plus Sam Craft, and maybe a transfer, late recruit, or JUCO guy. We'll be fine.

I just don't think Joe is going anywhere either unless he's projected as a lottery pick.
He didn't get that "King of Memphis" tat for nothing. I think he will want to play all 4 years, barring a leap into lottery status.
AB is real possibility and Thomas could jump back up a lot of draft boards with a strong finish.

Sure would be nice to keep Antonio though. Having a senior PG/SG like that is so valuable.

Without reading anything else on this thread. Yep.
Hipp will have his degree, count positively towards the graduation rate, and can transfer for graduate school. Way to go Hipp!.

Yea we would be fine, and any one of those situations are plausible, but highly unlikely they all happen. Joe isn't gonna be a first round lock so he stays. Antonio didn't leave this season so I doubt he would next. And Hipp won't leave unless he is pushed out, which Josh won't do unless he has to. Four people have to go at the end of this year, I could possibly see five happening. No way six or seven leave.

There's no conundrum. Josh is a disciple of Cal; I'm sure he'll find a subtle way to kick a few of the low performers off the team.
