How about we start a thread titled "Get our Season Ticket Base to 5k" first.

Or worry about next season and accomplishing the same type of season we had this year or better.

I "like" that.
Getting to 5K would take a 25% increase over last year.
I'd like to think that will happen, but we'll have to see after the OB buzz wears off.

I actually think we can get higher than 5k, but 5k would be a good initial goal to push for.
All remember, just because you buy season tickets does not entail going to every home game yourself. Even if you buy 4 tickets, very well knowing you can make 2-3 games, gage the interest of a couple of your other friends or family that can make up the others. I know several people who are planning on doing this. Its great to increase our sales of season tickets, but that still means we need butts in the seats to translate to a recorded increase in attendence numbers.

RE: NIU to the BIG 12
Selling tickets for next season should be job #1. NIU had around 20,000 fans at the OB. Take out the students and we had at least 15,000. A season ticket cost around $99. That's a heck of lot less than those people spent to go to Miami. If even 1/3rd of them would buy a season ticket, we'd be well on our way to doubling our season ticket sales. It is also right that you don't have to go to every game to justify this ridiculously low investment in the program. Buy the tickets and give them to friends, family or donate them back to the school to give away to military, scouts, etc..

Having under 5,000 season ticket holders is SHOCKING to me.

Highly doubt that will be the case going forward. Count me in as a new one, along with a few friends. We certainly aren't the only ones.

Why do we keep talking about this? It is not going to happen.
It is like trying to date Cindy Crawford. It is not going to happen. It is more than just footabll. Who says the the Big 12 even wants us.

IMHO: NO.
Demand would have to increase substantially more.

I think that they should keep it the same as last year given how the year went BUT if the season ended up with us going to a smaller bowl game(win or lose) I think that knocking a couple dollars off the price would have been needed.

One more note: They need to revise East Side Single games from $30 back to $20.
They did that last year and it was either a typo or just dumb.

Finally logic.
Others that might work
try to get ticket holders to pay for parking in donors lots
If you don't donate to the HASF why are you talking about conference changes
If you think ticket prices and parking are high now, wait til we are in a AQ conference
Nebraska requires $300 donation just to be eligible for a ticket are you ok with that
Thanks for flying to florida for the orange bowl, now try making some games in Dekalb

So you like that? As long as we completely discount the tickets?
This is why we would be lucky to get to 4,000..
Guys say they are fans and will buy season tickets, but then cry about parking, donations, empty donor lots

RE: NIU to the BIG 12
We need to think of it as a door wide open. The team has certainly stepped up to the doormat, now its the fans/donors turn to get us through that door before it closes. I am not saying the door represents another conference, but it is certainly the next level for NIU football.
-If we had more season ticket holders and donors, maybe we could afford to purchase a BCS team to come visit DeKalb every year (That everyone so desperately craves).
