Does that move ECU into the Big East in 2013?

Can't wait for everyone here to tell us how we're not valuable now.

After next year, Boise has the same chance at an auto-big in the MWC as they would in the Big East. MWC is a much easier travel schedule than what the new Big East would be. On top of it all, the Big East Boise agreed to join is significantly different now. This is true for all the teams that joined at the same time as Boise. Due to location, Boise probably does not gain a lot by joining the Big East now.

IMO it's the parking of the oly's in the BW that will kill it for BSU. Not only does it cost $ but the level of play is much lower than the MWC. If the nBE could have done the divisions it would have mades sense.

How in the world can you blame Aresco for any of this? How was he going to keep Rutgers from going to the Big 10? How was he going to keep UofL from going to the ACC?

If true, very bad news for the nBE. But not at all unexpected excepted by those who far overvalued the nBE.

Won what? Maybe we in the MW can claim to be the 6th best conference. So what?

RE: Boise not joining BE
So this is who's left..

Temple
USF
UCF
Cincinnati
UConn
Houston
Memphis
SMU
Tulane
East Carolina *FB-only
Navy *FB-only

Honestly, after all of this I'm over the Boise hype. It wasn't going to make or break the conference. These schools have a lot of potential (minus Tulane and Navy) and can have a really nice "best of the rest" football and basketball conference that will be on top of the MWC most years. Let Navy leave and invite ECU all-sports, then get UMass onboard and one more for a nice 12 team all-sports conference.

I'm not blaming Aresco. I agree, anyone who was going to leave was going to leave anyway. It's just that he had so much buzz and positivity, some of us really bought into the dream. Tulane/the BB defection/losing the western wing... I actually thought he could save those parts...

Aresco has gotten a lot of great press on this forum but the state of the nBE is much worse today than when he was hired. And if he could not do anything to stop the bad things that have happened why was he hired?

I agree with part of this, but the BCS money is still pretty good money. Even if for one year, I'd still like them to be apart of an AQ conference. I have to believe that they knew that either A) Rutgers and Louisville are leaving in 2013 or B) Aresco gave them TV numbers that weren't good. At this point, Aresco might be the worst commissioner in college football history. I realize some of the losses weren't preventable but there was a lot more that could be done and now the Big East risks even falling behind the MWC. Gotta feel for SDSU too although I assume they'll be coming back as well.

You guys will appreciate a truer East conference in the long run. With AQ going away, it's not going to hurt you guys.

Actually, it's bad for all the biggest programs not in the power 5, east or west. If those had joined, the result would have been reasonably close to the ACC. Now the MWC and BE will be fairly coequal, but both waaaay far from the power 5.

Seriously, the MWC will be Boise and everyone else. They think they will run the table there. It will be interesting to see where that ranks them each season.

I think Boise just made a mistake, but what do I know...

Boise may be thinking longer term. Keep running the table in a weaker MWC, win a few BCS bowls, and in a few years the PAC or B12 may come calling... Might be a smart move.

Pretty much. SDSU and UNR will still punch them in the face every couple years

So does Boise compensate the teams that had them on their home schedule for next season?
