RE: Bearcat Basketball-Bengals Playoff Conflict
No disrespect to the OP but it shows the difference between living in Cincinnati or any other city the same size or bigger.
Can you imagine any other group of fans even discussing it with the discrepancy and history between the two "situations."
It's not even close. I know who I will be watching.

Even if you are a fan of both watching anything live is way better than watching tv.
Go to the Cats game.
DVR the Bengals.
Wouldn't you rather watch live the team that is more likely to win?

Comparing UC football or basketball to our NFL team, the most popular sport in our country, and thinking that UC is more popular is absolutely delusional.
I am a bigger UC fan than Bengals fan but I don't think for one second that UC is or should be a better draw than the Bengals. Some need a heavy dose of objectivity.
Also, people need to get passed the MB thing, the family is not going anywhere and cheering for the Bengals is not cheering for the Brown family. That's the same as the idiots that stopped watching UC because of Nancy Zimpher. Dumb.

I know this disappoints you but the Bengals will not leave Cincinnati for a long, long time.
Another thing that bothers me is the hate for Mike Brown. I get that he's a ****** owner but the "I'm not watching until Mike Brown is gone" "Mike Brown needs to sell the team" "F Mike Brown".
Newsflash: He will be the owner until he dies. Then once he dies his daughter will be the owner. No matter how much or how little you spend he will ALWAYS make a profit due to revenue sharing. I can understand not going to the games or buying merchandise but watching on TV won't make a difference at all. Those TV deals are set by much larger markets than this one. So instead of spending your time spewing hate at the owner. Enjoy this team. They play hard and smart. Now Marvin Lewis on the other hand...

Didn't seem to hurt basketball attendance much when our football team was playing in their bowl game at the same time. Only place I saw empty seats were in the usual locations in the corners.

1998 Valuation of Brown Family Bengals: $290M (First Year Forbes started tracking Sports Franchises and 2 years after the voters were duped/lied to about the worst public/private lease in pro sports).
2013: $18M-$30M in additional Taxes to be legislated in order to continue line the pockets of Brown Family Bengals on the backs of families owning property in Hamilton County w/o vote or proper representation.
Zero conflict! Go Bearcats!!
Just to be clear, I don't care whether or not you are a Bengals fan, but I don't understand the point of this post. Is the increased value of the Bengals a good or bad thing and does it apply just to the Bengals or to every NFL team or even every professional sports team (and why?)
Also please refresh me on what the voters were specifically duped/lied to about and who did the duping/lying?
I simply pointed out the increased valuation of the franchise to point out that in the years since the stadium deal was passed, the overall wealth of the Brown family has increased 300%. Despite this massive increase in personal wealth, the Bengals still are requiring the tax payers to foot the majority of the expenses for so called stadium maintenance. The recent Enquirer article said that the stadium funding gap could grow to a $300M+ in ten years!! You can't live in this city w/ any sense of the financial burden that PBS is causing on this county and not be repulsed at how there isn't more significant leverage put against the Bengals to "pay more".
Lying/promise breaking: Taking the complete joke of the lease off the table there were 2 clear promises made to the voters that have now been trashed, 1) the law that was passed to fund the stadiums was presented to the taxpayers as having been completely analyzed, vetted, etc..so that no further taxes would be needed. All supporters of that initiative said the increased sales tax would be more than sufficient to cover the construction and maintenance of the 2 stadiums. We barely got 10 years pass the stadiums being open, when it became apparent this was either a lie, gross incompetence, or both. 2) The second "lie" was that, when the vote to build the stadiums was passed, voters were "promised" a property tax rollback. This was part of the legistlation put before the voters. The actions of the County Commisioners last week, basically saying..screw that agreement, we need more money..and we're going to get it from property owners by going back on the promise that was put before the voting public to gain agreement for the initial passage of the stadium construction initiative. Not sure whay you'd call it.....but those in power who presented the choice to the voters, certainly seemed to have some hidden agendas (again, see how things have worked out for the main guy who pushed it...Bob Beddinghaus).

At least Indy got it right. 5 Counties are paying for Lucas Oil Stadium and the Colts are not the exclusive Tenant.
Here, 1 County is on the hook. Stupid local politicians.

Pretty sure I remember reading that they tried that but the surrounding counties all said no. I suspect they figured Hamilton County was pretty much over a barrel and would ultimately agree to foot the whole bill without them. It's one reason I'd have rather seen the ballpark in Over the Rhine or at least leveraged that way (to keep the view and the complementary spending in Hamilton County rather than N KY businesses).
