Seriously. The number of posters attacking the Big East on our own board has become ridiculous. Can't we put up some troll nets or pass out some repellent or something? I've heard citronella candles sometimes work.

As I have said before, fear and jealousy make the new Big East a much hated conference.

But on the other hand, you kind of have to expect it. The MWC and the nBE have a mighty tug of war going on right now. Given the nature of the relationship -- and the fact that each conference has targeted some of the other's programs for poaching, it would be more surprising if there wasn't a lot of head butting among the fans of the two conferences.

Granted that it is happening on your board, but a lot (but by no means all) of trolling is in response to trashing of the MWC or its members by nBE fans. And a lot of it is an attempt to make serious points when those points conflict with firmly held opinions and biases -- in other words, it's not trolling but it is perceived as such by nBE true believers.

Things will probably simmer down once a winner is declared.

How about the recent attacks against Boise by some posters here that you wouldn't consider trolls? Honestly, I loved coming over here when Boise was first invited. Now, not so much.

It really is sad. How pathetic does your life have to be to go to a forum of something you don't like just to talk down on them? I don't like the ACC, but I sure as hell won't go to their forum and talk trash to them every time they lose a team and I would hope other people here wouldn't either. I used to frequent the CUSA and MWCBoards but really their obsession with the Big East is sad. Often times half of the front page are Big East related topics and the Big East topics tend to have about twice as many posts as the topics about their own conference do. And if they aren't coming here they're littering the Realignment board with their garbage posts and topics about every nerd with a twitter that claims to have realignment sources that are negative towards the Big East. A post with that idiot West Virginia fan as a source on twitter got 12 pages. Downright pathetic.

Sorry for the rant, but in conclusion, I have not seen any football team or conference trolled as much as the Big East is.

This happened with the addition to this board of individuals from the "cocroach" board called the MWC board.

I have to agree, it's getting really bad. There are two very obvious ones who joined recently, post constantly, and generally are just being instigators. I know there has to be a certain level of this on the internet, but it's too bad it detracts from the legitimate discussion.

A limited defense.

A. There are NBE-relevant, debatable questions. People are going to come debate them. Let's say half of those people are going to say the NBE glass is half-full, half (obviously including me) are going to say it's half-empty. I'm trying, personally, to do a better job of acting like a guest since the C-7 board started. I think all the non-NBE posters should think that way.

B. There is almost always fan-site bad blood between the ones who left and the ones left behind. With the NBE, it's complicated because it's NBE vs MWC, NBE vs C-USA leftovers and now NBE vs C-7 plus some random potshots from down Louisville way. Most of the NBE vs ACC and NBE vs West Virginia has died out. But it's still enough to power about 6 months of WWE plotlines.

So no, there is definitely no conference board anywhere with more trolls than this one.

Oh, and calling AttackCoug a troll is just stupid. And I forgot the NBE New Blood vs Power Conference Candidates.

That is the rub: there are certain sacred cows around here, stuff like the value of the media deal, whether new schools will develop into football powers, etc., and if you disagree with the True Believers you are labeled a troll and the mod squad is called in.

No. You are not totally correct there. What many on this board object to is the constant post after post in every thread from certain posters with negative reactions to the league.
We get it, you rather be elsewhere or you want the league to fail, but we don't need to hear it over and over again.
This is the Big East board and yes the majority of us want the league to succeed and get best deal possible, if that bothers you then maybe this is not the board for you

It just seems like that because BigEastHomer does the work of 10 trolls.
