NMR - Motivation for the NFL draft
This is what is posted in the LSU Strength & Conditioning Coach's office window:

Good luck getting into the NFL if you are someone who would be a late draft pick/UDFA and your name is on that list.

That is great! I bet those athletes are asking how to get off that list. I am sure that sign has an impact on those athletes that think they have a chance at the next level.

Next level? If they aren't getting it done these schools take those scholarships back pretty quickly, which is how they're able to sign 25+ every single year.

I don't know what goes on there but I would say I don't like it. That coach could give all of the scouts the same piece of paper individually when they arrive and tell each of the players one-on-one that he isn't answering questions about them because of those reasons but not in the form of public humiliation. We're always taught to praise publicly and correct privately.

+1... Thats BS. You go to LSU so you can play pro ball and some *** clown whose jock is on too tight makes those remarks, BS. Who wants to sign up with him? He probably is not that good at what he does if he has to resort to these tactics. Hey Les get a handle on the situation.

The S&C coach is almost always picked by the head coach. You hear a lot about S&C coaches following a HC when he changes schools. I can almost guarantee you that Les approves/thought of this. Players know what the consequences are if they do not show up to workouts. They have NO ONE to blame but themselves.

We need to get away from the 'blame everyone else but yourself' attitude that a lot of people have today.

Blame everyone else attitude?.... sounds more like political chatter than the actual understanding of the hours these athletes put it to becoming better players. It is a year round effort, most do not go home for summer Thanksgiving or Christmas. It is full time job, I see these bodies and they do not get that bid and fast without effort.

Don't forget the drugs! Takes a lot of drugs for some of these guys to get big as quickly as they do, while the NCAA and the schools want nothing to do with PED/HGH testing.

Amazing in this country how people get all worked up over baseball players and cyclists using, but turn a complete blind eye to the obvious abuse by football players in both college and the NFL.

Not to thread jack or anything...

Yup most don't, and those are probably the 50+ guys that aren't on that list.

Do you have anyway to back this up? I bet most football players, who didn't have a game and are able to afford it, went home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. During bowl games you hear a lot about how players were given some time off for Christmas and were at home with their families. Some - probably a lot - work out at their high schools while home.

And, yes, football is like a full time job. But they are paid in the form of a full ride scholarship and room & board, which can be worth $10,000, $20,000, $30,000, $40,000+ per year. How many college students are able to 'work' and earn that much 'money' while in college?

RE: NMR - Motivation for the NFL draft
Just thought I'd bump this thread with this little article from Yahoo today:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-s...ncaaf.html

And look who's name is last on the list in the OP. Any of you apologists want to reiterate why you found this so wrong?

Perhaps the S&C Coach at LSU should have put, "In addition to being lazy, this guy is also very stupid".

What an idiot. Why would you ever say that? I'm sure there are other players on a lot (probably most) of teams who do that, but why admit it at the COMBINE?!? Then he says, "It's definitely something I have to get adjusted to, but I'm sure with the right coaching I will be fine." He doesn't sound very confident about that.
