Derrick Rose or Penny Hardaway
If you could add D Rose to our team this year or Penny....who would you choose and why?
Assume both players are in their prime.
Our weakness this year seems to be at the 1 and the 3 position. Which player would put us in the Final 4?

I'm so biased Derrick because of my bullcrap Chicago love but I would have to pick Penny. Penny had an air about him as a leader (from what I can remember) to basically take over the game. I'd have to pick AH on this one. Fun to think about though.

Penny was here as a junior, but as a prop 48 only had two seasons.
Penny once went on a four game stretch of 30 point game, triple double, triple double, 30 point game. I don't think any other Tiger player has ever approached that.

It has to be Penny, but it is not by a wide margin. Derrick Rose can flat out take over a game on his own add to that his explosiveness and strength. Just look at the Bulls this year without Rose nowhere near as good. In the end though Penny just had something about him that you can't teach. Not many players his size could play the point if needed.

Hard to say.. wasn't D Rose winning the NBA mvp in what would have been his junior year here (take that back, maybe senior)?? But either way, Imagine what he would have been doing to the college world...

No quibble with either one-but how are we weak at the 3 spot with Adonis and DJ/Deron filling that spot most of the time. Adonis is going to bust out of 3 pt shooting slump and/or attack the basket more. He is shooting over 56% from 2 pt range.
Problem with him attacking basket is when we play two low post guys and our spacing does not allow him room to drive and the fact that most teams play zone and collapse the middle against us.
Loserville WILL play a good bit of zone today.

Penny without question. Penny was much more versatile than Rose. There was NOTHING Penny couldn't do. From running the point to posting up Patrick Ewing and dunking on his face. Passing the ball like Magic Johnson and scoring like Michael Jordan. NOT EVEN CLOSE

IMO, Penny, in his prime, was the second best player in the league, only to MJ. Maybe that's because I grew up watching him as a little kid, and kids don't have the wherewithal to accurately assess just how good someone is (I also thought Troy Aikman was the best QB to ever play the game at that point), and now the only means of watching him is going back to YouTube highlight clips. That being said, it's a shame he never got to have the career that he should have, or I really think he may have been one of those top 10-15 guys of all time, but, alas, his body just couldn't hold up.
