lol. Apparantly we will be begging the Sun Belt for a membership. Is Dodd even aware that the conference is not dissolving---the catholic schools are just leaving. Do you think he talks to the other reporters or does he write his artilces while he plays World of Warcraft on the computers second screen?

I'm pretty sure that our football lineup is the same today as it was yesterday. We did not lose any FB schools today... DUH!

Dodd: BE football schools facing big questions
South Florida
Central Florida
Temple
Connecticut
Cincinnati
Memphis
SMU
Houston
Tulane

That's nine full members who play FBS football. Keep calm and carry on.

RE: Dodd: BE football schools facing big questions
So according to Dodd:

South Florida
Central Florida
Temple
Connecticut
Cincinnati
Memphis
SMU
Houston
Tulane
ECU
Georgia St
South Alabama
TxSt
Louisiana Monroe
Louisiana Lafayette
Western Kentucky
Arkansas State
Troy
Arkansas Little Rock
UT Arlington

That's probably a few too many. I guess Sunbelt won't be able to invite everyone. Another fine article by Dodd.

Lord, I apologize, and be with the starvin' Pygmies down there in New Guinea. Amen.

ECU will be added as a full member no doubt.

The next round of concerns will be when UConn and Cincy leave. That will be followed closely by the west schools (BSU, SDSU, UH, SMU).

I think I lost about 5 IQ points reading that dumbazz article. Does he even know we still have a league with an AQ next year?

You're assuming Boise still wants to stay. It all depends on the TV deal which is looking pretty bad right now. If Aresco can only get a couple million more than what Boise could make in the MWC they're not going to find it feasible to travel to the other side of the country for every away game. If that happens then SDSU isn't coming either.

Assuming Louisville and Rutgers both get out for 2013 (which is becoming a real possibility) you've got three remaining members plus Temple plus the six from CUSA. That's 10 teams with no real anchor, no BCS wins, and two of them are on deck to bolt at the first opportunity.

Now if you're one of those schools coming in do you think it's better to take your chances in a severely watered down conference that is destined to crumble or swallow your pride and go back where you came from?

I do think Dennis Dodds is functionally retarded. Nobody has written as much on this as he has and very rarely has he even come close to being right with his predictions. His reads on this stuff have consistently been, well, odd.

That was a shockingly bad take on all this. I've heard people talk about writers before, and usually chalk it up to hyperbole, but that was really really bad.

Dodd? Is that you?

C'mon. Use your head. Which watered down conference would the refugees swallow thier pride to return to? CUSA is at 14 with mostly Sunbelt and FCS call ups. The old members cant wait to get out. The Sunbelt is the teams that CUSA passed over for FCS call ups. CUSA has no room anyway. So the Subelt is all thats left. Worst case senario is that every old CUSA team would jump into that 'crappy" 40 million dollar Big East contract because its still nearly 3 times what CUSA makes. Thats assuming the dubious liklihood that Dodd knows what he is talking about with respect to the Big East's earning potential. SI says Dodd is way low and the NY Post says Aresco told the basketball schools at Thursdays meeting that the contract amount would be around 100 million---thats between 2 and 3 times the figure Dodd is floating.

Actually it's more like a reunion of the original CUSA with UCF replacing UAB. The next step is to give ECU full membership, invite Southern Miss, and add ODU in the spot originally occupied by Louisville. The football-only side can be UMass, Navy, Boise State, and SDSU (until UConn is added by the ACC).

REVIVED METRO CONFERENCE EAST
UConn \ Temple
Old Dominion (FB 2015) \ East Carolina
USF \ UCF

REVIVED METRO FOOTBALL-ONLY EAST
UMass \ Navy (FB 2015)

REVIVED METRO CONFERENCE WEST
Cincinnati \ Memphis
Southern Miss \ Tulane
Houston \ SMU

REVIVED METRO FOOTBALL-ONLY WEST
Boise State \ SDSU

I don't think any MWC schools will jump initially. They will stick together and see if this New Metro Conference can survive. When the ACC strikes again, you might see Fresno State develop the courage to move, perhaps finally followed by a change of heart from BYU if another spot happens to open up.

No. Now that the basketball schools are gone, the Old Dominions and UMass suggestions left with them. The league will move south and west. Temple, Navy, ECU, USF, UCF, S Miss, and Memphis will make up the east. UConn and Cinci will be gone by spring.
