I think Charlotte faces more obsticles with the Panthers and Hornets(err, Bobcats still I guess)....

I agree I think ODU long term is a home run addition to any of the gang of 5 leagues. Charlotte does face much greater competition in it's market, but if they show they can generate similar local support to ODU they'll be a home run addition as well.

Good to see Lady Monarchs Field Hockey get some serious recognition. I had the chance to see them play when I lived on campus. They're a very capable group of athletes with a history of success and a bright future in the Big East.

The thing though is for an ODU- they're the only team in town sort of speak.... If they get good, they're going to have a lot of local support. To me, them(and UTSA)- are kind of like chia-pets. add water, and watch them grow.... They're different than like North Texas who just so happens to be in a big market.....

What makes ODU a home run is everything about them aside from their market. Their already rabid fan base that has completely outgrown their stadium already, their basketball program, their overall facilities, their relative isolation compared to the other 2 state schools, and the fact that they are located in one of the better recruiting areas in the country. That's what makes ODU a home run, the fact they have a good market to go along with it is really just the cherry on top.

I'd say just as much not having any pro sports competition.

Monarchs all over the place.

Is it Women's wrestling? That might be worth paying to see.
