What do you stAte fans think about possibly perusing Patrino? He needs to repair his reputation, and what better way to stick it to the Hogs than hiring Patrino?

To be honest, our fans would take Petrino in a heart beat, because the last two good christian men we have had as coaches turned out to leave us in a year.

Horrible idea.
The last thing stAte needs is another 1 year rental.

We must go after him first. He's cheap for a short time and an even better coach than Malzahn.

Not really, we go out and get the best you can pay for and worry about keeping him later. At this level, its a natural course of action. The days of hiring mediocre coaches that make good hunting and golfing buddies are over with. College football is a business.

Maybe he'll be grateful and stick around.
I think he'd be a good hire.

My guess is that Kingsbury will be the leader. We go from Cam Newton's coach to Cam Newton Lite's coach. Petrino will be a big name, and would certainly draw a crowd, but my guess is that Southern Miss will go for him as well.
The other thing is that this team is recruited to run the hurry up spread. Petrino doesnt run that.

I hadn't even thought about that. That would be a problem in the transition which is all one could assume we could keep him for.

I guess I don't understand how being Christian has anything to do with it.

I think the point is both coaches that have left them high and dry after one year were both Christian so I wouldn't hurt to hire someone like Petrino.

So I guess us non-Christians are just pieces of ****. Apparently you have to be one to be considered a good man.

Patrino runs a variation of the spread, just didn't do it much at Arkansas. Watch his offenses from when he was at Louisville. I think he would be a great hire and USM doesn't have the money to match what Malzahn was making so you guys have a shot at him. IMO

Well, I don't want to speak for him Paul, but I think the point was that neither lived up to their proclamation.

Kingsbury has a great offensive mind, don't know how well he will interview. But Malzahn was recruiting to a similar system so he would certainly excite athletes to come up to Jonesboro and play for ASU. He might be able to put together a decent staff as well with his connections.

Its a statement about the way ASU coaching hires have gone for 4 years. We couldnt get rid of Steve Roberts for 10 years because he was a good christian man, and was teaching our players good life lessons. Freeze was a good christian man who never missed church and never drank. Malzahn was in church every Sunday morning.
Jonesboro used to be known as city of churches, and its more of a statement brought on by the seeming requirement of every single one of our head coaches to be a christian.
We've got some gigantic church leaders in the area who believe it is a really big deal whether or not our head coach is religious...and our fans are fed up with it. We crack the jokes like that about good christian men, becaise if you listened to some people up here, non christians are all lying scum bags and Christians never do any of it.
It was never shot at you.

I say no to Petrino! Too much baggage and I don't want to be viewed as hiring uaf's cast-offs. Too much of a PR risk...I know I would not want my son playing for a character like him.
