RE: Initial Reaction to the Press Conf.
So if he decides to stay does that mean that those 12,500 disappear more quickly? Does it mean Nippert won't look half empy, i mean, be half empty next year? Will there suddenly be a run on season tickets if he stays? If we commit $$ to facilites as part of his deal does that mean the powers that be in the ACC or Big 12 see how highly thought of CBJ is (cuz Colorado and Purdue are MARQUEE programs) that a conference realignment bid suddenly follows? I doubt it. Stay or go UC is moving through it's growth process. this is natural. If he stays and we move conferences in 3 years WE will be clamoring for the new coach....to get us to the NEXT level....just my off the handle reaction.....

Whit remained in New York City for the Big East meetings, so he must feel comfortable enough that he was able to stay there.

RE: Initial Reaction to the Press Conf.
Ono most likely has to get the BOT approval so after presenting Butch with the initial UC offer, Butch (or his agent) countered and Ono now has to go back to the BOT to make the pitch. So, later today makes sense. If the BOT have any sense, they'll match Butch's offer so if he does leaves at least folks can say UC did all they could. I'm sure there are alot of coaches who would relish inheriting this UC program.

Huge mistake to stay in New York for a failing conference if CBJ does leave. We have Associate AD's that could have listened to the crap in NY.

So clearly Whit wasn't at the presser but are we sure he was in NYC.
If he wasn't there and wasn't in NYC it could be a good sign that he's working out the details on possible extension/sticking around at UC.

Lance Mcallister tweeted that he is in NYC for the big east meetings.

Whit was in New York for regular Big East meetings.

Interesting, considering UC abstained from the vote of the most recent additions.

I'd give him until the close of business today to make a decision so that we can move forward. If he chooses CU, his office is cleaned out tomorrow am. No loitering.

Isn't is a sad commentary on higher education/college athletics when the President of a university has to spend the majority of his time worried about football and basketball coaches?

And how does the President of a university feel when he is presenting contracts to those coaches that pay those coaches more money than the President does for running the university?

Agree. No way he coaches the bowl game if he is leaving. Good riddance. Move on to the next guy.

1. I doubt that his how Ono spends the majority of the time, though I am guessing he has spent substantial time there for a few days, much like he would if a Department head left or was thinking about leaving.

2. I would bet the President is not bothered. That's just where the market is for a coach.

Everyone is chasing the money including admin and Universities. Only reason they are offering that kind of money is becasue they are chasing the money that comes with it.

Nobody is innocent in this crap!

Stay/Go, whatever.

I am much more concerned about whether Ono and Whit are capitalizing on getting in front of major donors to advance a building project NOW.

Big wheel donors are going to be 100X more open to writing a check now when they can still write off the entire donation then they will be next year when the donation write-offs for the wealthy are very likely to be CAPPED by Obama and his band of idiots.

Wait until next year and if deductions are capped, major building campaigns are going to be MUCH HARDER to pull off.

RE: Initial Reaction to the Press Conf.
So we bash the hell out of BK and Dantonio for running out and not coaching a bowl but now if he tries to stick around and at least do things the right way we all want to run him out by tomorrow morning. If he bolted today and took his staff of to CU leaving us coachless for the bowl, the same people would be b8tching about that.

BTW- I just listened to this presser and he talked about watching film of Duke all morning, so not sure if he's even had the chance to have meetings with Ono. I think we need to let this play out a bit.

Very true. Whatever happens here, given the conference situation, now is the time to move athletics forward and do what needs to be done.

Lance posted this quote from BK back in 2009:

"There's always going to be the want and the desire to play on your home field," BK said. "However, I signed this contract because of what it looks like in five years. If Nippert looks like this in five years, I'll be very disappointed."
