App is the single most recognizeable name in the FCS. App also has the highest seasonal attendance for about 6 years now, and the top 99th percentile in facilities. If that isnt premier, nothing is. There are dozens upon dozens of FCS coaches that would kill for the opportunity to coach at App with the fan support and facilities. So calm down.

Would be some great areas of the country for the SB to cover, good attendances, schools, and would really be good for the league. All three schools would probably be committed for many years if we can get that media inequity figure closer to some of the other conference.

I'd want us to stay in the East as well and they dare not split up Troy/USA.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but would 2013 be the transition year and full member in 2014?

I am not upset. Just gets redundant to hear fans talk about how their school is the best thing since chocolate pudding.
Just about everyone feels that way about their school. I know, I know, it's true in our case, but other people will not believe that and it sounds like a bunch of hyperbole to continue on and on touting how wonderful or how much better App State is.

I think that's how it would work since MUTS/FAU won't be leaving until 2014. FIU/UNT are leaving in 2013 though so we'll have Texas State and Georgia State to replace them.

How about this way:

There are a ton of schools at which a Head Coach advancing his career is an uphill battle. App isnt one of them.

A lot would probably be due to scheduling. If the Sun Belt sets the final conference interconference play schedule, and can and is willing to cancel some of the games with departing schools and put us in their playing slots then that would sound reasonable. Remember though, those schools, all or some, will still be in the SB for 2013, unless they go sooner, which all could try to move sooner. Might even be able to get a waiver from the NCAA, but I doubt they would even try for that. Schools may want to build up additional scholarships also instead of rushing it too much, which could hurt them numbers wise in one recruiting class.

True. Will not be a cake walk. The transition will be harder than most of us that haven't done it will admit, but is a great opportunity. Believe that is one of the main reasons SS agreed to quit and come back so fast.

Yeah right. We're gone after this mess. Not sure about FAU.

The first name that popped out last night that was sent to me based on gossipy stuff around Boone wasn't Satterfield (though that's his dream job and he'd retire there if he could) but Ellis Johnson. There's an apparent connection there.
And this is just completely speculatory, but if I'm Charlie Cobb, I'd see what it would it take to get Skip Holtz in Boone.

Ellis Johnson??? No way in hell. He was a DC at App for 1 year. Also, he just got canned for a win-less season. The Alumni Association would explode and Cobb would be looking for a new job the very next day.

Skip Holtz would be interesting, but I just see Satterfield with the job. No reason to bring him in as the program's first ever Assistant Head Coach and OC for a year, knowing Moore was stepping down, and not pick him

Charlie Cobb would have a hard time explaining a hire with stats like this:

Ellis Johnson? Are you kidding me? Must have been an email sent by someone that hates us. Either that or was a joke.

Skip Holtz could probably do a pretty good job, but Scott Satterfield is who I would hire for the job.

Hope you've got some cash to buy out your schedule and make room for yourselves on CUSA's schedule. FBS home games average $1,000,000 per game. That's $4,000,000 for starters to the Sun Belt schools plus the cost of trying to make room for you on CUSA's schedules. Everyone's schedules were made years ago. It'd probably wind up costing about half your operating budget for next year.

App and Georgia Southern would be FCS transition teams so thats not a even swap. And even that would cost them money to get out of their games for next year (I dont know what FCS games cost).

Look I get you're pissed off. Everyone looks out for their own interests. You shouldn't expect us not to. I don't see what happened to MTSU as being anything more than unfortunate. Im not jumping with glee that you got screwed. I am laughing about what happened to Tech.

What did you expect the Belt to do? Send WKU to the MAC by choosing you over them?

You don't "buy out" of conference games, MTSU will not pay individual conference members anything. If the conference agrees to an early departure you pay whatever penalties are agreed to and move on.

And by the way, when WVU dumped FSU (an OCC game), WVU only paid FSU $500k. Everything depends on the contract.

Satterfield is a great OC, but I don't like the idea of him at HC. He's the chess master and needs to stay in the coaching box moving the pieces.

We need new blood at App State. Someone that will come in and run their system to perfection and preferably someone who will have no qualms with cleaning certain areas of the house (ie the defensive coaching staff). I'd also love to get someone with FBS experience and FBS recruiting connections.

FBS experience like Satterfield at FIU's bowl winning seasons?

For goodness sake, stay away from Ellis Johnson. Appy is better than that.
