Interesting, sounds like some nice work done by the SunBelt offices and commissioner negotiating.

Moving their games behind a paywall as they will be a feature of ESPN Plus, according to this.

Good for them. Do they get to play on saturdays or will this force them to play all their games at 3am Eastern on Tuesdays, replacing the infomercials?

At first blush, $4.99 per month sounds reasonable on the surface. Got to be some strings that I'm too lazy to dig into.

The only "catch" I see reported is that you must already have an ESPN subscription to be able to purchase this. $4.99 does not include the standard ESPN/2/U channels.

This is ESPNs answer to CBS's College Sports Live, but I bet the quality will be better and include more content, along with being better integrated. CSL is $9.95/month.

Liberty has accepted an invitation from the Atlantic Sun Conference and will move its non-football sports to the new league beginning with the upcoming 2018-19 athletic season.

A press conference is set for 2 p.m. to formalize the move.

I can't speak to other sports in the ASUN but I don't see them having any shot at making to March Madness now. In the Big South they at least had a shot but FGSU and Lipscomb are solid teams.

Liberty is moving because they know JMU, Delaware, Stony Brook, Albany, and Jacksonville St will move there to. It will become an FBS league as stated before. Kennesaw St and North Alabama always had FBS in mind. UNF and FGCU don’t want to fool with FCS when they add fb. There may be more teams like Chattanooga and Youngstown St.

NJIT will backfill the America East and Lipscomb will backfill the OVC.

The CAA is too much of a political cesspool to manage corralling enough future FBS schools.

yea.....uhhhhh.....no. sorry, but this nonsense you keep saying on all the boards....
stop. just......stop.

i've got a better chance of walking on Mars than this happening, forgetting about the lack of common ground among these schools, but the NCAA won't allow it. To move up you must have an invite from an existing FBS conference. Liberty was an exception to the rule. It won't happen for the others, nor should it. most of those schools are not FBS programs at all. Not even close. And JMU is absolutely not moving up to be in a league with ASun schools. Nor would Delaware.

It. Ain't. Ever. Happening.

RE: Newest Conference Rumor
I sincerely believe that App, ODU and JMU want to be in a conference together and know the schools are talking. It just makes too much sense to ignore. They represent three schools with strong fan bases and the rivalries between them would make each year a must see game. The question is who joins them?

My first two obvious choices are UD and Marshall. They likely will require some convincing. The rest are anyone’s guess and have been discussed in detail many times.

I do not worry about the NCAA. Historically, they have shown they have no teeth. They make rules and then don’t enforce them when they are challenged unless there is severe cheating taking place and I mean caught red handed type of cheating.

This time each year I wait to hear the announcement and wonder how much longer before the Presidents at these schools make it happen.

And then if you're a blueblood, you just get a slap on the wrist. The powerful schools have learned the CIA mantra: Admit nothing, Deny everything and make counter accusations. The NCAA is like those Senate Investigations- they bring reams of misdeeds to the forefront and then do nothing.

Just want to get you bozos on record against FBS for when it happens. That league wouldn’t reek of Sun Belt academics. The WAC can give ASun FCS schools an FBS invite for a price. Stay there for fb only during the transition and then leave. Fan bases are often brainless and they refuse to think how to get around NCAA rules legitimately.

Elon Musk is planning a Mars trip. Some fans just aren’t visionary.

Our admin isn't visionary enough to pull some stuff like this. They are not wanting or willing to go FBS at any cost. Also, though we are a school in a Southern state geographically speaking, we recruit more from Northern states, and not just in terms of athletics. A lot of PA, NY, and NJ license plates on campus. Do I think JMU will go FBS? At some point yes, but I think it'll be more through the traditional, conservative approach.

In the 2017-2018 Men's Basketball RPI, Lipscomb was 105th and FGCU (not FGSU) was 171st. Even when FGCU went to the Sweet 16 in 2013-2013, they were 73rd, which is their best RPI in the eight seasons I have RPI for.

We're talking about an average mid major conference here. Of course they don't stack up against the top ranked teams in the country but I'm saying that they are arguable better than the programs in the Big South, ultimately making it harder for Liberty to make the tournament.
