Auburn fans are not so sold on Barbee anymore
Some of the Auburn folks are starting to see teams that are not prepared. They are now 2-2. They lost to Murray St and Dayton (2 decent teams).

Auburn Board-LINK

I kinda feel for them. But the reason I put this on here, is because Barbee was considered an up-n-coming energetic coach (the type Fitbud refers to), and it is the perfect example of how it doesn't always pan out. One more reason why I'm so glad it worked out for UTEP and coach Floyd.

RE: Auburn fans are not so sold on Barbee anymore
Auburn thought a brand new arena & a new coach would make them a basketball power in the SEC.

It really hasn't worked.

I liked them better under Lebo.

Wager. I'll take Floyd over the next five years. You can have Barbee over the next five years. We can go by RPI so that schedules can be taken into account. Loser gives the winner a $100 gift card.

It's not that I don't think Floyd is a good coach or that Barbie is a particularly better coach.

I'm sure Floyd will be successful at UTEP. My issue is with the style of play.

I don't think Floyd's style will consistently attract the fans or top recruits or even translate in to Championships.

I think the guy has seen better years.

I'm not much of a betting man myself but you might find it interesting to note that currently Auburn is ranked 145 and UTEP 146.

IMHO, $100 is a lot of money. Also, there are too many variables in a bet of that sort.

They play in different conferences, they have different time tables, and they have very different expectations and opponents.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if neither of them are coaching at their respective schools in 5 years.

dude, you have 5 years to save up $100, just do this, the money you were planning on paying your property taxes with, you can put towards the bet since the HOT tax passed by a lot when we voted on it.

Then it seems like this bet would be in your favor?

That is why I suggested we go by RPI. The RPI rating takes all of that into consideration.

What kind of a &)*&^*&$*^%$*^ measures a proven coach with their first 5 games in a season, with the 12th youngest team in the nation??

I'll tell you who.... The same type of person who opposes progress in their city.

What kind of person claims that Tim Floyd is the perfect fit for UTEP when he hasn't done anything for the University as the coach.

He took a championship team and ruined them. Then he has a losing season and he is starting a second consecutive losing season.

I get it. Here in El Paso, you will make every excuse for this man like you all did for Price and you will give him more time to build a program than he needs.

Let me remind you that almost every other coach had winning seasons in their second season.

Will you expect the same from Floyd?

I bet you won't.

"He took a championship team and ruined them."

Was DC on that championship team? Yep. Did DC play for Coach Floyd? Nope.

Does everyone else realize that was the difference? Yep!

He was our best player. If anything, I credit Coach Floyd for almost recapturing that lightning w/out DC.

I disagree. DC was not the best player on the team, it was Culpepper.

Tim Floyd ran a player off to Miss. St. that had better stats than DC in a tougher league.

Had Tim kept that player and ran the same things that the previous coach did ( something that most coaches do)

They would have won the conference and gone to the NCAA>

DC was that team. 'Dante' was still spotty his junior year. Moultrie under achieved.

What were Culpepper's stats and what were Characters stats?

What was UTEP projected to finish in that year?

What were Moultree's stats the following year?
