I absolutely LOVE their NBA productions.

Agreed. Turner's NBA productions are pound-for-pound the best coverage of any sport on any network. I also think the CBS productions for SEC games are best in college football (as much as it pains me to associate anything good with the SEC).

I've enjoyed Fox's productions this year.

Still believe ESPN very much major player in talks w/Big East and FOX & Turner interest does not mean offering insane dollars either.

Thank you for your pessimism. It will keep me grounded as the nBE sail's their boat load of cash to the bank. 04-rock

Exactly! Those are the same guys that had Brett McNugget on the air the other day, and quoted his propagandous unsourced figures on that same twitter feed.

That said, its good to hear more names.

That's a strange comment.

Turner, IMHO, trumps all non-ESPN cable options in terms of exposure as long as the intent is to use TBS and TNT and *not* truTV.

Taking a stab at understanding what they're saying here....

ESPN still major player for Tier 1 basketball (Big Mondays/Saturdays) aand tier 2 football
Fox still major player for Tier 1 football

Turner still in for Tier 1/2 basketball

None of the above going to offer max dollar payout but gets close and the package as a whole maximizes exposure....

As Big East exclusive negotiating period w/ESPN/CBS ends FOX and their plans for FOX Sports 1 and Turner step up interest, says source.

https://twitter.com/thebeatofsports

More suitors gives Big East Commish Aresco more options...and possibly a way to help maximize both exposure and revenue signing with multiple partners vs signing with just 1.

With only 61 million homes, the NFL network would be amount the worst possible locations for our product. It's a quality network, but very limited reach.

If just for tier 3 as suggested, though, it wouldn't be bad.

For Tier 3? We're talking games that would otherwise be on Comcast Sports regional channels, etc.

Oh by the way, CBS Sports Network (one of C-USA's flagships) is only in 46.3M homes. NFL Network would be a big boost over CBS Sports Network. Further, the NFL Network has strong growth potential.

You obviously haven't had to find games on CBSSN, lol. I have NFL Network on extended basic, and CBSSN on high premium.

But for Dish customers like me I have to pay the highest package for NBC sports. CBS Sports is in the lower tier package.

For tier 3 it sure beats cbs sports, espn3, or comcast sports. Also, every bar in the country has nfl network and actually knows what the channel is. Try finding a place that has cbs sports or one that actually can hook up a computer to run espn3.

I looked at the programming for the NFL Network on Fridays and Saturdays. They repeat a handful of shows over and over. Most of the shows have been playing all week.

They could easily create a College Football show and produce a game on Friday nights and 1 or 2 games on Saturdays.

Correct, it depends upon what tier it is. Tier 1 games on the NFL Network aren't very attractive compared to the more widely distributed alternatives. Tier 3 games on the NFL Network, on the other hand, is very good coverage for those types of games.

The NFL Network's recent new contract agreement with Time Warner and others has now pushed up their subscriber base to 70 Million homes.

No clue if Big East will land anything on NFL Network...but as others suggested, if NFL Network gets "something", it might just be for Tier 3 games, many of which use to be just internet only broadcasts in the past.

NFL Networks make most of their $$$$ off:

Thursday Night Games

Sunday AM Preview/Fantasy Shows

Everything else is basically "fluff", much of it repeated over and over again.

I really like this idea over NBC getting any portion of the contract.
